Tröegs Releases Double Perpetual, an Amped-Up Version Of Perpetual IPA
Today I have release news for one of my favorite DIPAs coming from Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey, Pennsylvania:
HERSHEY, PA – Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the return of Double Perpetual IPA, an amped-up version of its iconic year-round Perpetual IPA.
The 9.5% ABV Double IPA is part of the Hershey, PA-based brewery’s rotating Once-a-Year series, which includes popular beers like Mad Elf, Nugget Nectar, and Nimble Giant.
Cycling through copious amounts of Cascade, Chinook, Nugget and Citra hops, this bigger, bolder West Coast-style ale boasts sticky notes of citrus fruit and pine.
Double Perpetual came to fruition through Tröegs’ small-batch Scratch Series. Originally released as Scratch #500, this brewery exclusive beer was an immediate hit with fans and sold out within the first day of its release.
“One of the ways we share our creative process is through our Scratch Series,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner.
The Scratch Series launched in 2007 to coincide with the family-owned, independent brewery’s tenth anniversary. Over the years, it has served as the springboard for potential seasonal and year-round beers, one of the first being Perpetual IPA.
“It’s hard to imagine Tröegs without Perpetual, but there was a time when we didn’t brew an IPA. Then, Citra hops came along, so we said, ‘Why not?’”
After half a dozen Scratch batches, Trogner and his brewing team finally landed on the recipe that would become Perpetual IPA, one of Tröegs’ most recognizable beers.
Double Perpetual takes cues from Perpetual IPA, which is the best-selling craft beer in the state of Pennsylvania, according to data compiled by Circana, a leading provider of market research on consumer goods.
Currently, Double Perpetual is the brewery’s highest rated IPA on Untappd.
Double Perpetual IPA is available on draft and in 16-oz. cans across the brewery’s entire distribution footprint. Beer drinkers can find it and other beers near them using the Tröegs Brew Finder.
