Firestone Walker Wizard Disco Pinthouse Collaboration Coming To Cans
Firestone Walker Wizard Disco
Firestone Walker is bringing a little California hop character together with some Austin, Texas brewing creativity, and the result is a new West Coast IPA collaboration called Firestone Walker Wizard Disco. This is one of those new beer releases that immediately catches your attention, not just because of the brewery names involved, but because the can artwork is absolutely packed with personality.
Today I have a first look at Firestone Walker Wizard Disco IPA, a new West Coast IPA brewed in collaboration with Pinthouse. The beer is scheduled to arrive in 12-ounce cans, and the label gives us a pretty good idea that both breweries wanted this one to stand out before anybody even gets around to opening a can.
And that artwork. Seriously.
The Firestone Walker Wizard Disco label is a colorful, old-school illustrated design featuring a wizard wearing a blue hat, surrounded by flames, hop imagery, dancing disco balls and a couple of rather unusual mythical creatures. The artwork has a vintage psychedelic feel, with plenty of yellow, red, blue and green, and it is a pretty noticeable departure from the cleaner, more traditional beer packaging that still fills plenty of craft beer shelves.
The central artwork also carries the phrase “Beer Before Glory,” which is a familiar Firestone Walker expression, while the Pinthouse skull-and-crossbones logo appears prominently between the two label panels. It is a fun combination of the personalities of these two independent craft breweries, and the finished design makes Firestone Walker Wizard Disco look like a beer that belongs in the spotlight.
But what about the beer itself?
According to the label, Firestone Walker Wizard Disco is a West Coast IPA coming in at 6.5% ABV. The beer is packaged in 12-fluid-ounce cans, giving us a fairly straightforward look at the format and strength of this new collaboration. There is no additional hop bill, IBU information or tasting description provided on the label, so I am going to hold off on guessing what varieties or specific flavors might be involved until the breweries share more information.
That said, the West Coast IPA designation is enough to get my attention. This style has been enjoying plenty of renewed interest as craft beer drinkers continue looking for beers with a more defined hop character, a cleaner finish and something a little different from the increasingly crowded hazy IPA category. A well-made West Coast IPA can deliver plenty of hop personality without becoming overly heavy or difficult to drink.
Firestone Walker certainly knows its way around this category. The Paso Robles brewery has spent decades building a reputation for technically accomplished brewing, from its traditional ales and barrel-aged beers to its modern hop-forward releases. Pinthouse also brings plenty of credibility to the collaboration, having developed a strong following in Austin and beyond for its hop-focused brewing program.
The pairing makes sense. Two breweries with established followings and a shared appreciation for interesting craft beer, coming together for a new packaged release.
Pinthouse has become particularly recognizable for its bold IPA lineup, while Firestone Walker continues to balance its established California beer portfolio with new releases and collaborations. Firestone Walker Wizard Disco gives both breweries another opportunity to put their brewing personalities together in a single beer, and I suspect the packaging alone will have plenty of craft beer fans looking twice when these cans start appearing.
There is still one big piece missing.
Release timing, distribution details and the complete tasting profile have not been provided yet, so I would not assume this is arriving everywhere at the same time. The label does confirm the 6.5% ABV and 12-ounce can format, but we will need additional information before getting into specific availability or pricing.
For now, Firestone Walker Wizard Disco is a promising new Firestone Walker and Pinthouse collaboration, bringing together two respected craft breweries for a 6.5% West Coast IPA with some seriously entertaining artwork.
Keep an eye out for this one. It should be a fun addition to the craft beer cooler.

About Firestone Walker Brewing Company
Firestone Walker Brewing Company is an independently minded California craft brewery with a history that stretches back to 1996. Founded by brothers-in-law Adam Firestone and David Walker, the brewery began as a relatively small operation on the Firestone family vineyard in California’s Central Coast wine country. What started as a shared interest in making better beer eventually developed into one of the more recognizable brewing companies in American craft beer.
The original brewery was established in a small converted winery building, where the founders began experimenting with brewing techniques and recipes that would eventually help define the Firestone Walker identity. Their first major beer was Double Barrel Ale, a distinctive British-style pale ale that helped establish the brewery’s early reputation. The original approach to brewing, including experimentation with oak fermentation and aging, gave Firestone Walker an identity that was different from many of the young American craft breweries operating during the same period.
Firestone Walker’s Paso Robles Brewing Heritage
Firestone Walker eventually moved its brewing operations to Paso Robles, California, in 2001. That move provided the brewery with additional production capacity and room to expand its brewing program while remaining connected to the Central Coast communities that helped shape its beginnings.
Today, Paso Robles serves as the company’s flagship brewing location and an important part of its visitor experience. The brewery campus includes production facilities, tasting experiences, a brewery emporium and a full-service taproom restaurant. Visitors can explore the brewing operation, sample different beers and get a closer look at the company’s history and brewing philosophy.
The brewery’s location in California’s wine country also provides an interesting backdrop for its approach to beer. Firestone Walker has consistently explored the relationship between traditional brewing practices and modern American craft beer innovation, with particular attention to fermentation, ingredients, aging and blending.
A Diverse Lineup of Firestone Walker Craft Beer
Firestone Walker produces an extensive range of craft beer styles, including pale ales, India pale ales, lagers, barrel-aged beers, stouts and specialty seasonal releases.
One of its best-known beers is 805, a blonde ale that developed a substantial following in California and eventually expanded into broader distribution. The brewery also became widely recognized for beers such as Union Jack IPA, Double Jack, Pivo Pils and its increasingly recognizable Mind Haze lineup.
Its IPA program has remained an important part of the company’s identity. Firestone Walker has continued exploring different interpretations of American hop-forward beer, from traditional West Coast IPA recipes to newer hazy and juicy expressions. That willingness to work across different IPA styles makes the Firestone Walker Wizard Disco collaboration with Pinthouse an interesting addition to the brewery’s current lineup.
The brewery also operates Barrelworks, its specialized barrel-aging and wild fermentation program based in Buellton, California. This operation gives Firestone Walker an opportunity to experiment with mixed fermentation, oak aging, sour beers and unusual ingredient combinations that extend well beyond its traditional packaged beer portfolio.
Firestone Walker and the American Craft Beer Industry
Firestone Walker has developed its reputation through a combination of technical brewing, consistent product development and an ongoing interest in collaboration. The company has worked with breweries, ingredient suppliers and other members of the beverage industry to explore new approaches to brewing while continuing to produce its established beers.
The brewery’s collaboration projects are particularly interesting because they allow Firestone Walker to work with different brewing teams and bring new perspectives into its own brewing operation. The Firestone Walker Wizard Disco West Coast IPA with Pinthouse fits that approach, connecting a California brewery with an Austin-based operation known for its hop-forward beers.
Firestone Walker’s philosophy is often summed up in its familiar phrase, “Beer Before Glory.” The expression reflects the company’s emphasis on the beer itself rather than simply the recognition that comes with producing popular releases. That approach has remained part of its identity as the brewery has expanded beyond its original Central Coast roots.
Visiting Firestone Walker Brewing Company
The Paso Robles brewery remains a destination for craft beer fans visiting California’s Central Coast. The campus offers brewery tours, tasting opportunities, specialty beer selections and a restaurant designed around food and beer pairings.
The taproom experience provides access to both familiar Firestone Walker favorites and selections that may be harder to find through traditional retail distribution. Specialty releases and brewery-only beers also give visitors another reason to explore the company’s broader brewing portfolio.

With nearly three decades of brewing history behind it, Firestone Walker continues to develop new beers while maintaining a connection to the traditions that established the company. From Double Barrel Ale and 805 to modern IPA releases and specialty barrel-aged beers, the brewery remains an important part of California’s craft beer story.
Firestone Walker Wizard Disco is another example of that continuing interest in new beer collaborations, bringing Firestone Walker together with Pinthouse for a colorful new West Coast IPA that adds another interesting release to the brewery’s growing portfolio.
