Shoals Brewing Co – Northwestern Alabama’s First Brewery Since Prohibition coming to Florence

Now, back in Florence, Jones is ready to have more than a hobby with craft beer. He is putting together a plan to open a microbrewery — the first in northwest Alabama since before Prohibition.
“Changes in Alabama law the past few years have made it more attractive to open a brewery, and Alabama is following a national trend,” Roberts said. “In the 1980s, there were less than 100 breweries in the United States. Now, there are more than 2,400.”
Jones said he has hired a brewmaster with years of experience in larger craft breweries, and is finalizing a building location. He has also selected a name — Shoals Brewing Co.
