Game available on PlayStation®5, In-Game Reward goes live October 2

ESCONDIDO, California (September 10, 2025) – Sapporo and Ghost of Yōtei’s limited-time package is now available.

The limited-time packages are available now across the US. The in-game reward can be redeemed via Sapporo packaging QR code and activated as soon as the Ghost of Yōtei game launches on October 2, 2025 on PlayStation®5. Codes are available through March 2026*.

Sapporo and Ghost of Yōtei seek to forge connections to Hokkaido, the Northern edge of Japan and home to the birthplace of Sapporo beer. Sapporo is the oldest beer brand of Japan and the #1 selling Asian import in the U.S. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience following the story of a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu as she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of Japan.  Ghost of Yōtei and Sapporo aim to celebrate Japanese culture and tradition.

“Beer and gaming are a perfect combination, but the synergy behind this partnership runs deeper,” explained Zach Keeling, Sapporo-Stone Brewing CEO. “Sapporo’s original brewmaster and the hero in Ghost of Yōtei both experience defiance, discovery and artistry to re-write their fates. These are inspirational stories that connect us to Japan and its remarkable history. We aim to share those stories and bring fans closer to Japan through this partnership.”

Brian Fleming, Sucker Punch Productions’ Co-Founder & Studio Head, added, “Hokkaido’s natural beauty made it the ideal setting to tell Atsu’s tale in Ghost of Yōtei. Our teams at Sucker Punch and Sony Interactive Entertainment are passionate about bringing a sense of care and believability to our fictional narrative and depiction of real-world locations. During our reference visits to Japan, our teams enjoyed a few refreshing pints of Sapporo, so we’re very excited for the opportunity to partner with this iconic Hokkaido-based company to help us launch Ghost of Yōtei in style.”

Sapporo’s Ghost of Yōtei packaging art is released for the first time today. It features the game’s antagonists, the Yōtei Six, in the foreground of Hokkaido’s mountainous terrain. Katana swords – like that of Sapporo’s well-known tap handle – are a central element of gameplay and prominently displayed on the beer package. Sapporo’s iconic gold star complements the golden ginkgo tree leaves featured in the game and on package.

The details of Sapporo’s in-game reward are also unveiled today. The Charm of Hokkyokusei features Sapporo’s iconic star logo. Hokkyokusei is the Japanese term for the North Star, which guided the brewery’s original brewmaster on his quest to Germany where he learned to brew beer, a craft he would apply back home in 1876 as Sapporo’s first brewmaster.  The charm grants players a minor chance to not consume ranged weapon ammo when equipped and can be unlocked by scanning the QR code printed on the limited-edition Sapporo packaging.
