Oxbow Brewing To Acquire Rising Tide Brewing

We are excited to announce that Oxbow will be acquiring Rising Tide Brewing Company in late 2024. Friends and collaborators since their early 2010’s beginnings, both breweries will continue their stellar legacies under Oxbow’s ownership.

Rising Tide co-founder Heather Sanborn will be exiting the beer business to pursue a career in public policy while her partner, Rising Tide co-founder Nathan Sanborn, will continue on as Rising Tide’s director of brewing operations.

“Heather has been an instrumental figure in Maine’s beer scene, both with her industry-changing policy work on behalf of the Maine Brewers Guild and with the wonderful beers and community she and Nathan created at Rising Tide. We are honored to be taking the torch and excited for the future of this beloved brand.” said Oxbow’s founder and President, Tim Adams. “Their team does an amazing job and their brewing values are in line with our own. They take their time and make decisions with a quality-above-all-else mentality.”

The two breweries share similar brewing philosophies, but their beer portfolios are markedly different. Rising Tide excels at making traditional American and European beer styles, while Oxbow specializes in farmhouse ales and lagers.

Tim continues, “I love the classic styles and can’t wait to help bring more of them to the people. The pendulum is swinging back to traditional beers, and between Oxbow and Rising Tide we’ve now got those bases fully covered. Bar menus and retail shelves are steadily becoming more balanced and approachable, while an increasingly educated and discerning consumer is demanding higher quality. This is an extremely exciting time for the Oxbow and Rising Tide brands and for the consumers who are looking for exactly what we are offering. It will be business as usual at Rising Tide and Oxbow locations, with the tasting rooms continuing to serve our local community.”
