Mybeerbuzz.com – Fun With Tags

You may have noticed already, but mybeerbuzz.com does make extensive use of Tags. With that said, I’m not sure most people know what a “Tag” is and how they work, so I thought I’d clarify.

With every post on mybeerbuzz.com, I can add what are called Tags. These tags help to not only classify what a post is about, but, more importantly, they allow you to see all posts with a specific tag. I use tags to indicate the brewery name, the home state of the brewery and many more things. What that means, is that if you’d like to only see news from your state like Pennsylvania, you can use the tag link. If you only want to see posts from a specific brewery like Stone Brewing, you can also use the tag link.

These Tags apear at the bottom of every post under the Author Biography, they also appear at the bottom of the post exerpts on the main page for Featured News, Trending News, Latest News and even the lower news sections. Tags also appear in the Footer of every page with links like Trending Breweries. Clicking on any of these links will take you to a full listing of ALL of the posts for that brewery / Tag.

How to Display Tags?

It’s easy to list out posts by Tag. ClIcking on any of the links I mentioned above, will display the posts with that Tag. Clicking on amy of the brewery names in the Footer Section of Trending Breweries will take you to that page. If you can’t find a link for a Tag you’re looking for, you can actually form your own link.

https://mybeerbuzz.com/tag/tagname where tagname is the Tag you’re looking for. The tags are all lower case and multiple words are separated by a “-” for example https://mybeerbuzz.com/tag/sierra-nevada will display all posts that are tagged with “Sierra Nevada.”

How to have fun with Tags?

I’ve highlighted above how to display all posts from a specific brewery or specific state, but Tags are much more than that. Have you ever just wanted to see lagers? How about sessionable beverages? Maybe just beverages packaged in cans? Maybe you’d like to see non-alcoholic beverages? All of these tags are available and here are just a few more examples of some other fun Tags.
