Yuengling FLIGHT packaging gets a fresh new look

Yuengling FLIGHT is getting a new look, and the changes are about more than simply putting a different design on a beer can. D.G. Yuengling & Son is updating the packaging for its premium light beer to make the FLIGHT name easier to spot, strengthen the connection to America’s oldest brewery and give the brand a more recognizable place on crowded beer shelves, where packaging can make a real difference when someone is deciding what to take home.

It’s a smart move.

The beer itself isn’t changing, which is worth pointing out because packaging updates sometimes leave drinkers wondering whether a familiar product has been reformulated or replaced with something different. Yuengling FLIGHT still delivers 95 calories, 2.6 grams of carbohydrates and 4.2% ABV, keeping its place in the light beer category for drinkers looking for a crisp, approachable option without the calorie count of many traditional beers. The new design instead puts more emphasis on the Yuengling name, richer blue packaging, consistent red accents and the brewery’s recognizable eagle imagery.

There is a practical reason for the refresh, too. According to Yuengling, consumer feedback showed that some shoppers had difficulty identifying FLIGHT on store shelves, giving the brewery an opportunity to improve visibility without abandoning the identity that existing fans already recognize. The updated packaging replaces the previous wing imagery with Yuengling’s iconic eagle and changes the product description from “Next Generation of Light Beer” to “Next Generation of Tasteful Light Beer,” making the brand’s connection to the family’s brewing heritage more direct while continuing to highlight taste, low carbohydrates and low calories. That’s the balance Yuengling is trying to strike, keeping FLIGHT familiar while making it easier for new customers to find.

The timing also makes sense for a brand that Yuengling says ranks among the top 50 beer brands in the United States despite being available in only 30 states, while holding the No. 2 position in the super-premium light beer category within its distribution footprint, according to Circana data cited by the brewery. Updated cans and cartons will begin rolling out in 2026, with most can formats expected to transition before the end of the year and selected bottle labels and other packaging following in early 2027.

Yuengling is also planning additional television advertising through 2026 and into 2027, so the packaging refresh is part of a broader effort to build awareness for FLIGHT. Here is what the brewery says is changing, when drinkers can expect to see the new look and how the refreshed packaging fits into Yuengling’s wider beer lineup.

What is changing with Yuengling FLIGHT packaging?

The refreshed packaging is intended to communicate that proposition more clearly. The revised product description highlights taste, while the stronger branding and eagle imagery make the relationship between FLIGHT and the historic Pennsylvania brewery more obvious.Yuengling FLIGHT packaging

When will the new Yuengling FLIGHT cans arrive?

Yuengling plans to begin transitioning to the refreshed packaging in 2026. Most can formats are expected to feature the new design before the end of the year, while selected packaging elements, including bottle labels, will transition in early 2027.

As with most packaging changes, the transition will not necessarily happen everywhere at once. Existing cans and cartons may remain on shelves as retailers sell through current inventory and receive newly packaged products.

Yuengling is also investing in additional television advertising, with new spots rolling out during 2026 and into 2027. The campaign will support the packaging changes and the brewery’s continuing effort to grow awareness of FLIGHT.

Refresh introduces Iconic Yuengling Eagle and makes brand stand out on shelf.

POTTSVILLE, PA– (October 29, 2026) D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery®, is unveiling a refreshed look for Yuengling FLIGHT, the brewery’s premium light beer.

FLIGHT was first released in February 2020, designed to elevate the drinking experience for consumers who want more from their light beer.  Born from six generations of brewing expertise, FLIGHT was brewed to deliver exceptional taste, low carbs and calories to the beer category.  With 2.6 grams of carbs, 95 calories, and 4.2% ABV, FLIGHT is a crisp, refreshing, easy-to-drink beer that complements Yuengling’s portfolio of brands and fits within the active lifestyles of today’s beer drinkers.

“The new packaging enhances the connection between FLIGHT and the trusted Yuengling brand, reinforcing the quality and consistency fans expect from the Oldest Brewery in America.  With this refresh, we saw an opportunity to improve visibility and shelf presence for consumers throughout Yuengling’s footprint,” said Wendy Yuengling, Chief Administrative Officer and sixth-generation family member of D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. According to research & analytics firm Circana, Yuengling FLIGHT ranks among the top 50 beer brands in the U.S. despite being available in only 30 states, and is the #2 Super-Premium Light Beer in the Yuengling footprint.

Importantly, this is not a rebrand, but rather a strategic refresh that keeps FLIGHT recognizable to current fans while strengthening the brand’s presence within the Yuengling portfolio.

The refreshed design was developed with two primary goals in mind: creating a stronger connection to the Yuengling name and enhancing shelf presence in today’s competitive light beer category. Consumers that have discovered the brand shared that they had some difficulty identifying Yuengling FLIGHT on store shelves, presenting an opportunity to improve visibility and make the brand easier to shop.

What’s New

The updated Yuengling FLIGHT packaging includes:

  • Stronger Yuengling branding reinforces trust, quality, and recognition.
  • Richer blue packaging elements and consistent red accents across all packs to enhance shelf visibility.
  • A clearer product descriptor, evolving from “Next Generation of Light Beer” to “Next Generation of Tasteful Light Beer” and lets consumers know they can enjoy great beer taste with low carbs and low calories.
  • Replacement of the current wing imagery with Yuengling’s iconic eagle, creating a more direct connection to the brewery’s heritage and brand equity.

The refreshed design gives FLIGHT a cleaner, more distinctive look that is easy to recognize wherever consumers shop for beer. The updated packaging stays true to Yuengling FLIGHT’s premium identity while creating a stronger connection to the Yuengling family of brands.

Rollout Timeline

Updated Yuengling FLIGHT cans and cartons will begin transitioning in 2026, with most can formats moving to the new design before the end of the year. Select packaging elements, including bottle labels and certain other packaging elements, will transition in early 2027.

Yuengling is also expanding its investment in Yuengling FLIGHT with new television spots rolling out this year and into 2027. The campaign, paired with the refreshed packaging, represents a continued commitment to building awareness and growing the FLIGHT brand.

D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. is America’s oldest brewery, a family-owned American brewing company founded in 1829 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. With nearly two centuries of brewing history behind it, Yuengling has built its reputation around traditional American beer styles, recognizable brands and a commitment to remaining family-owned and operated across six generations. The brewery’s long history is closely tied to Pennsylvania’s brewing heritage, but its beers have also developed a following well beyond its home state.

Yuengling’s beer portfolio includes Traditional Lager, Light Lager, FLIGHT, Black & Tan, Golden Pilsner, Premium, Premium Light, Dark Brewed Porter, Lord Chesterfield Ale, Oktoberfest and Bongo Fizz. Each product serves a different place within the company’s lineup, from the familiar amber character of Traditional Lager to lighter options designed for drinkers seeking a crisp, refreshing beer. This broad selection allows Yuengling to serve consumers who enjoy classic American lagers as well as those looking for different flavor profiles and lighter alternatives.

Traditional Lager remains one of Yuengling’s best-known beers, helping establish the brewery as a recognizable name in American beer. Its amber color and distinctive malt character have made it a longstanding option for consumers who prefer a traditional lager. Yuengling Light Lager offers another choice for drinkers looking for a lighter beer, while FLIGHT extends that offering into the premium light beer category with 95 calories, 2.6 grams of carbohydrates and 4.2% alcohol by volume, according to the brewery.

Introduced in February 2020, Yuengling FLIGHT was developed to bring a modern identity to the brewery’s light beer selection. The brand combines the company’s generations of brewing experience with a contemporary approach to packaging and marketing. Its crisp, approachable profile and reduced calorie and carbohydrate counts distinguish it within the Yuengling lineup. The 2026 FLIGHT packaging refresh continues that effort by strengthening the Yuengling name on cans and cartons, incorporating richer blue elements and consistent red accents, and replacing the previous wing imagery with the brewery’s iconic eagle.

Packaging plays an important role in how consumers identify beer brands in retail stores. Yuengling’s FLIGHT redesign responds to feedback that some shoppers had difficulty finding the product on shelves. The updated design is intended to make the beer easier to recognize while preserving the familiarity existing customers expect. The brewery is also supporting FLIGHT with additional television advertising planned for 2026 and 2027, reinforcing its efforts to build brand awareness and expand the product’s presence in the markets it serves.

Beyond its beer lineup, Yuengling maintains a connection to its history through brewery tourism and visitor experiences. In Pottsville, Pennsylvania, visitors can explore America’s oldest brewery through a free brewery tour and visit the Museum & Gift Shop. These experiences provide an opportunity to learn about the company’s history, its brewing operations and the generations of family members who have guided the business.

Yuengling also operates the Yuengling Draft Haus & Kitchen in Tampa, Florida, offering beer-inspired food, events, seasonal selections and branded merchandise. The location gives visitors another way to experience the brewery’s products and heritage outside Pennsylvania.

As a sixth-generation family business, D.G. Yuengling & Son continues to balance its established brewing traditions with changes in consumer preferences and the demands of a competitive beer market. Its combination of traditional lagers, premium light beer and evolving packaging initiatives reflects an effort to preserve the recognition built over generations while keeping its products relevant to today’s beer drinkers.
