Today we get an early peek at a new Goose Island Beer Hug coming from Goose Island Beer Co. in Chicago, Illinois, and this one looks ready to bring a serious citrus punch to the brewery’s growing lineup of high-ABV, flavor-forward IPAs.

Meet Citrus Beer Hug Blast Tangerine IPA, a new Imperial India Pale Ale with natural flavors that checks in at a formidable 11% ABV. The new Goose Island IPA will be packaged in a 19.2-ounce single-serve can, continuing the Beer Hug family’s presence in the large-format can category.

The label identifies the beer as an Imperial India Pale Ale with natural flavors and specifically notes that it contains wheat. The front of the package prominently identifies the beer as Tangerine IPA, making the citrus-forward character a central part of the new release.

The name alone gives beer drinkers plenty of clues about what Goose Island is aiming for with this new release. “Citrus,” “Blast,” “Tangerine” and “Beer Hug” all point toward an IPA designed around an intense, fruit-forward experience.
