While I swear glassware should always refer to actual glass, the historical significance of ceramic mugs being used for beer dates back centuries. Porters are simply lovely. Many mistake them for being a stout, but porters tend to be sweeter. The porter was the first beer to be mass produced in England and marketed as a beverage ready to drink. Microbreweries across the country have worked magic to produce some dazzling varieties. The best two porters I ever had came from Stone—one was a smoked porter with vanilla and the other a smoked porter with a hint of chipotle pepper.
