Brewery Ommegang Citrette Arrives in 2026

Today I have a new beer coming in 2026 from Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, New York. The new release is Citrette, a Belgian-style ale with lemon that brings together Belgian-inspired brewing character, bright citrus flavor and an unusually approachable alcohol level.

According to the can, Citrette is 3.8% ABV, putting it firmly into the sessionable beer category for drinkers looking for something lighter than many traditional Belgian-style ales. The beer is packaged in 12-ounce cans, making it a convenient format for enjoying at home, sharing with friends or adding to a mixed craft beer selection.

The most distinctive description on the package is “Belgian-Style Ale with Lemon.” That combination suggests Citrette is designed around the intersection of Belgian-style brewing and fresh citrus character. Lemon can bring brightness, acidity-like perception and a refreshing character to beer, making it a natural partner for a lighter ale.

The label also identifies Brewery Ommegang Citrette as “Honey Conditioned.” Honey conditioning adds another interesting element to the beer’s profile and gives Citrette a point of difference from more traditional Belgian-style ale offerings. Combined with the lemon component and 3.8% ABV, the package presents Citrette as a bright, approachable and refreshing addition to the Brewery Ommegang portfolio.

Brewery Ommegang Citrette also fits into the broader evolution of Brewery Ommegang’s modern beer lineup. Recent releases covered by MyBeerBuzz include Susky Pils, a 4.2% ABV pilsner in 12-ounce cans, as well as Little Leaf American IPA and Blackberry Bungalow stout. Those releases demonstrate the range of styles coming from the Cooperstown brewery in 2026.

For fans of Brewery Ommegang, Citrette should be an interesting release to watch as more information becomes available. The combination of lemon, Belgian-style ale, honey conditioning, 3.8% ABV and 12-ounce cans gives this new beer a distinctly different profile from many of the brewery’s bigger and more traditional releases.

At this point, the label provides the first look at Citrette, while specific release timing and additional availability details remain something to watch for. Stay tuned to MyBeerBuzz for more information as Brewery Ommegang’s 2026 Citrette release develops.

Brewery Ommegang has built a distinctive place in American craft brewing by combining Belgian brewing traditions with American craft beer creativity at its Cooperstown, New York, brewery. Founded in the late 1990s on a former 140-acre hop farm in the Susquehanna River Valley, Brewery Ommegang was created as an American farmhouse brewery inspired heavily by the brewing traditions of Belgium. Its early beers helped establish the brewery as an important name among American producers specializing in Belgian-style ales.

The brewery’s original portfolio included beers such as Abbey Dubbel, Hennepin Farmhouse Saison and Rare Vos Amber, establishing a foundation built around Belgian-inspired brewing. Abbey Dubbel, in particular, helped introduce drinkers to Ommegang’s approach to traditional Belgian-style beer when the brewery opened. Over time, the Brewery Ommegang lineup expanded considerably beyond those early Belgian ales.

Today, the Brewery Ommegang beer lineup encompasses a wide variety of styles, including Belgian-style ales, farmhouse saisons, pilsners, American IPAs, sour ales, stouts, fruited beers, barrel-aged beers and experimental specialty releases. Recent 2026 releases demonstrate that range, with MyBeerBuzz coverage including Susky Pils, Little Leaf American IPA, Blackberry Bungalow stout, Neon Riot Belgian-style IPA and Barrel Blend, a complex barrel-aged milk stout project.

Brewery Ommegang has also maintained a connection to New York agriculture and local ingredients. The brewery worked with Cornell University on an experimental hop yard intended to encourage New York hop growing, eventually producing beers featuring New York-grown hops and barley. That agricultural connection adds another dimension to the brewery’s identity as a farm-based Cooperstown brewery.

The name Ommegang itself connects the brewery to Belgian cultural history. The name comes from the historic Ommegang celebration in Brussels, a tradition dating to the 16th century. That Belgian connection remains an important part of the brewery’s identity while its modern brewing program continues to explore new ingredients, brewing techniques and beer styles.

Brewery Ommegang is also part of the Duvel Moortgat family of breweries, connecting the Cooperstown brewery to a broader international brewing organization with Belgian roots. The brewery’s Cooperstown property has developed into a destination for craft beer fans, featuring a taproom, café, mercantile, events and other experiences surrounding the brewery and its beers.

That combination of Belgian brewing heritage, American craft beer experimentation, New York agricultural connections and an expanding portfolio makes Brewery Ommegang an especially interesting brewery to follow. Citrette, with its Belgian-style ale foundation, lemon character, honey conditioning and highly sessionable 3.8% ABV, represents another example of the brewery continuing to explore different directions while remaining connected to its Cooperstown and Belgian-inspired roots.
