Big Hurt Pub Coming To Chicago Suburb of Berwyn

Legendary Chicago White Sox slugger Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas plans to open a brewpub in Berwyn featuring his line of craft beer.

The five-time All-Star’s Big Hurt Brew House will debut in late fall in the American State Bank building at 6801 W. Cermak Road.

The Berwyn City Council last week approved a redevelopment ordinance to convert the 6,500-square-foot local landmark to the flagship brew house. The 88-year-old limestone building will be sold for $200,000 to a venture of Heidner Properties Inc., which will redevelop the property, according to Berwyn Development Corp. Executive Director Anthony Griffin, who negotiated the deal for the city.
