Review: Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Lone Tree Brewing Lone Tree IPA
I’m always excited to get to try a new beer, and even more excited when it’s an IPA and it’s the first beer I’ve been able to sample from today’s brewery. After spending almost a month hiking in Colorado last year, I’m even more surprised that I didn’t find this beer already…that is until today!
I’m talking about Lone Tree Brewing Company and the beer I’ll be test-driving today is Lone Tree IPA. Because this beer isn’t Lone Tree’s top selleing beer, they’ve been more willing to experiment and tweak the beer to get to this version, and I think it’s a great version. Originally hitting 5.7%-AbV, the latest update has the beer hitting 6.4%-AbV. The beer now uses 2-Row, Marris Otter, and Flaked Wheat and as you’ll see when I sample, I think Lone Tree really hit on a tasty new recipe.
Lone Tree IPA is a decidedly a west coast-style IPA, but it really checks a lot of boxes for an easy-drinking mainstream year-round IPA. The beer strikes a nice balance between maintaining it’s style, but not bowling you over with too much West-Coast bitterness. Lone Tree IPA is really approachable, really drinkable, and really enjoyable whether you’re looking for a west coast-style IPA or just a great IPA.

Label Text Lone Tree IPA:
“Introducing your go-to India Pale Ale for all occasions. This highly drinkable beer doesn’t come short on hop aroma but packs just the right amount of bitterness. This IPA is sure to become an instant favorite.”
As Lone Tree descibes the beer, “This West Coast style IPA has bold hop character with copious amounts of late addition hops that really create a pleasant hop aroma and flavor. With Chinook, Idaho 7, Nelson Sauvin, and Bru-1 hops, this is surely to become one of your favorite India Pale Ales.”
Of course I can’t wait to try this one, so off we go:
Lone Tree IPA:
Brewery Description:
This West Coast style IPA has bold hop character with copious amounts of late addition hops that really create a pleasant hop aroma and flavor. With Chinook, Idaho 7, Nelson Sauvin, and Bru-1 hops, this is surely to become one of your favorite India Pale Ales.
ABV: 6.4%
IBU: 55
Style: IPA
Packaging: 12oz cans
Appearance: Light golden
Aroma: Tropical fruit, citrus & pineapple
Mouthfeel: Medium
Taste: Bright citrus, sticky sweet pineapple & grassy hops
Overall: Lone Tree IPA has definitely been one of my favorite every-day IPA’s (this is a compliment!). The beer is infinitely drinkable with notes of pineapple, citru, and grassy hops and I really liked the crisp clean finish and the just-right fruit presence brought on by the Idaho 7 and Nelson Sauvin hops. This is a really good IPA.
Lone Tree IPA is available now in these 12oz cans in limited markets (releasing across Colorado and Kansas now). Overall, Lone Tree IPA has a really nice combination of balance and drinkability without being overwhelmingly bitter. I thought the balance was really good and I finished my 12oz can much more quickly than I thought I would. Get out there and try this beer for yourself, and when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
