Victory Java Reserve / Victory Java Cask Mark 30 Years With Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee Stout

Today I have two exciting new coffee collaborations coming from Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and these are particularly notable because they arrive as Victory celebrates its 30th anniversary. The new beers bring together Victory Brewing, sister brewery Southern Tier Brewing Company and Pennsylvania coffee company Twin Valley Coffee for a pair of big, barrel-aged coffee stouts.

The first beer is Java Reserve, a 13.5% ABV bourbon barrel-aged coffee stout that has spent an impressive 10 months aging in bourbon barrels. According to the new label, that extended barrel aging brings a deeper edge to the beer while layering rich espresso and roasted malt with bold charred oak and smooth vanilla. The label also identifies Java Reserve as a collaboration with Twin Valley Coffee and calls it a limited release celebrating three decades of Victory Brewing.

The second beer is the returning Java Cask, which will also be a bourbon barrel-aged coffee stout, this time coming in at 13% ABV. Both beers are expected to be packaged in 16-ounce cans, giving fans an opportunity to experience these high-strength coffee stouts in a format that showcases their anniversary packaging.

Victory Java Reserve: 10 Months in Bourbon Barrels

The star of this first look is clearly Victory Java Reserve. The package prominently displays “10 Months”, emphasizing the amount of time the stout spent aging in bourbon barrels. At 13.5% ABV, this is a substantial imperial-style barrel-aged coffee stout built around multiple layers of dark malt, coffee and barrel character.

The label describes the beer as bringing together rich espresso and roasted malt, bold charred oak and smooth vanilla. That combination suggests a profile built around roasted coffee and dark malt while the bourbon barrels contribute oak, vanilla and additional depth.

The collaboration with Twin Valley Coffee is another important component. The label specifically identifies Twin Valley Coffee and notes that, for the first time, Java Reserve is brewed with the brewery’s neighbors at Twin Valley Coffee.

A 30th Anniversary Victory Brewing Release

The new Java Reserve and returning Java Cask arrive during a milestone year for Victory Brewing Company. Victory’s official website identifies 2026 as “30 Years of Victory,” marking three decades since Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet opened the brewery in Downingtown.

That makes the Java Reserve packaging particularly appropriate. The label prominently features “Celebrating 30 Years” alongside “Brewed in Downingtown, PA”, tying the barrel-aged coffee stout directly to Victory’s Pennsylvania roots.

Victory says the brewery has grown into a world-renowned craft brewery over its 30 years, with beers including Golden Monkey and Prima Pils helping establish its identity.

For now, release timing and tasting notes for Java Reserve and Java Cask are still to come, so this is an early first look at the new anniversary coffee stouts.

Here is the full first-look information for the new Victory Brewing Java Reserve and Java Cask releases.

About Victory Brewing Company

Victory Brewing Company is a Pennsylvania craft brewery founded by longtime friends Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet, whose friendship began when they met as fifth-graders on a school bus in 1973. Their shared interest in homebrewing eventually developed into a professional brewing career, culminating in the opening of Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, in 1996. The brewery is celebrating its 30th anniversary throughout 2026.

Victory’s history is rooted in its founders’ interest in European brewing traditions and their desire to create flavorful, distinctive beers in Pennsylvania. Over three decades, the brewery has developed a broad portfolio that includes Belgian-inspired ales, German-style lagers, IPAs, imperial beers, barrel-aged specialties and seasonal releases. Current core offerings include Golden Monkey, Prima Pils, DirtWolf, Storm King, Sour Monkey and several other beers.

Among Victory’s most recognizable beers is Golden Monkey, a Belgian-style tripel listed by the brewery at 9.5% ABV. Prima Pils represents another important part of Victory’s identity, bringing a German-style pilsner to the brewery’s portfolio. DirtWolf Double IPA and Storm King Imperial Stout demonstrate Victory’s longstanding interest in stronger, more robust beer styles.

Victory has also developed a reputation for experimentation and specialty releases. The brewery’s current special-release program includes beers that allow its brewing team to explore different ingredients, techniques and collaborations. MyBeerBuzz has covered numerous Victory releases over the years, from new Monkey variants to specialty beers and seasonal offerings.

The brewery’s 30th anniversary makes 2026 a particularly significant year for Victory. The company’s official history describes 2026 as 30 Years of Victory, reflecting three decades of brewing in Pennsylvania and the growth of the company from its original Downingtown brewery into a larger regional craft beer operation.

Victory’s current footprint includes its flagship location in Downingtown as well as taprooms in Parkesburg, Philadelphia, Kennett Square and Charlotte, North Carolina. The brewery’s official website identifies Downingtown as the flagship location and lists five locations in total.

A significant part of Victory’s corporate history is its relationship with Southern Tier Brewing Company. MyBeerBuzz’s historical coverage notes that Victory teamed up with Southern Tier in 2016, forming the foundation of Artisanal Brewing Ventures. The platform subsequently brought additional craft beverage brands into the broader organization.

That connection makes the new Java Reserve and Java Cask collaboration particularly interesting. The beers combine Victory’s brewing operation with its sister brewery relationship and Twin Valley Coffee, creating a collaboration that brings brewing, barrel aging and specialty coffee together.

The Victory Java Reserve is especially focused on barrel aging. The label identifies the beer as a bourbon barrel-aged coffee stout and states that it spent 10 months in bourbon barrels. At 13.5% ABV, Java Reserve is designed around a combination of rich espresso, roasted malt, charred oak and smooth vanilla. The label also states that the beer honors Victory’s three decades of brewing and was brewed with its neighbors at Twin Valley Coffee.

The returning Java Cask continues the coffee-and-bourbon theme at 13% ABV, giving Victory fans another high-strength barrel-aged coffee stout to watch for during the brewery’s 30th anniversary year.

Together, Java Reserve and Java Cask fit naturally into Victory Brewing’s history of robust, flavorful specialty beers. The new 16-ounce cans also give the releases a fitting anniversary presentation, while Java Reserve’s 10-month bourbon barrel aging adds an additional layer of distinction.

As Victory Brewing enters its fourth decade, the Java Reserve 30th Anniversary coffee stout gives the brewery another opportunity to connect its Pennsylvania brewing roots with collaboration, coffee and barrel aging. Release details and tasting notes are still forthcoming, making these two Victory Brewing coffee stouts releases to watch as the anniversary year continues.
