Kentucky®️ Bourbon Barrel Mango Wheat Seasonal Release – 8.0% ABV

LEXINGTON, Kentucky., May 6, 2026— Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co., the only brewery and distillery on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®️, announces its latest beer release this week with nationwide availability for its Kentucky®️ Bourbon Barrel Mango Wheat – 8.0% abv. (SRP $15.99 / 4pk Bottles). This is a limited seasonal release beer. 

Tradition Meets a Taste of Summer

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Mango Wheat proves that barrel-aged beer can still embrace a sense of adventure—stouts and other dark beers don’t get to have all the fun. There’s another side to Kentucky bourbon barrels, one that brings freshness, softness, and a subtle sweetness that lends itself to a more playful expression of barrel-aged beer. While the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel portfolio is rooted in tradition—home to the flagship Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and a more classic range of barrel-aged beers—brewing has always been driven by creativity and exploration. Did you know? Kentucky actually sits within a subtropical zone, specifically a Humid Subtropical Region. Hot, humid summers—mild, cool winters with four seasons and consistent precipitation year-round. Perfect for growing crops such as corn and wheat and ideal temperature swings for barrel-aging.

This release leans into that spirit and sense of place with a bright, fruit-forward wheat ale that balances the smooth influence of bourbon barrels with the vibrant character of tropical mango and hints of vanilla. It also continues the brewery’s long-standing seasonal rhythm of alternating between lighter and darker fruit profiles every few years for its summer seasonal releases. Past favorites like Peach Wheat, Blueberry Wheat, and Tart Cherry Wheat have all helped shape the program. Now Mango Wheat enters the lineup to a lighter, more refreshing expression—perfectly suited to the easy-drinking nature of wheat ales for the warmer months.

Pushing Boundaries, Inspired by Bourbon

Bourbon-inspired innovation is nothing new in Lexington. The team has long explored both bourbon-based and bourbon-inspired offerings, continually pushing into new categories to better understand where Kentucky bourbon meets evolving consumer tastes. The inspiration for this release comes directly from the nuanced character of Town Branch Bourbon, the distillery’s flagship whiskey, known for its bold orchard and stone fruit notes that are known to evolve into pleasantly surprising tropical tones.

“That unexpected hint of the sub-tropical encouraged us to explore flavors not traditionally associated with barrel-aged beer,” says Dave Bob Gaspar, Head Distiller and Blender. “Mango Wheat is one of several new releases coming this year across several beverage categories that push the boundaries of fruit, wood, and finishing—exploring what lies ahead, as we like to say.” The result is a thoughtful blend of innovation and heritage, where the richness of bourbon barrel aging meets the bright, juicy lift of mango. It’s a beer that challenges expectations while remaining grounded in craftsmanship, offering a fresh perspective on what a bourbon barrel-aged summer seasonal beer can be.
