(Review) Portland Cider English Pub, Huckleberry Lemonade, Imperial Blood Orange Pomegranate & Marionberry Mosaic Cider

While I don’t consider myself as knowledgeable with cider as I am with beer, I always enjoy learning more and more about ciders, one tasty can at a time. Today, I’ll be test-driving some new and returning ciders from Portland Cider in Portland, Oregon, and I think you’ll agree that these new ciders are unique and delicious.

If you’re not aware, October is National Cider Month, so what better time to check out not one, not two, not even three, but four new canned ciders from Portland Cider. Of course, I can’t wait to dive in, so off we go…

Portland Cider Description – Huckleberry Lemonade: This vibrant, juicy cider came out as a seasonal early this year and quickly became a hot commodity. So we brought her back as a year-round core product in 12-oz canned six packs.

My previous review of this cider is here, and I’m excited to say that this one still tastes really good the second time around. The balance of fresh berries and tart lemonade makes for a really drinkable cider; in fact, if you didn’t already know this is a hard cider, you probably wouldn’t figure it out based on the taste alone. Huckleberry Lemonade tastes just like a fruit-flavored lemonade, so the 6.1%-AbV will sneak up on you. I really liked the tart lemon flavors and the sweet berry flavors that balance it out nicely, and this has to be one of my all-time favorite ciders.

Portland Cider Description – Imperial Blood Orange Pomegranate: A brand new recipe for us, this bold and tangy imperial has quickly become a crowd favorite. This is the first in a new rotating seasonal imperial series that will transition after the new year. Now available in 19.2-oz cans through February 2026.


The name of this cider will tell you everything you need to know about the flavors and drinkability that will follow your first sip. First up, this is an imperial cider, so it’s big and a bit boozy at 8.4%-AbV. The tart citrus of the blood oranges leads the way, and the pomegranate adds a fruity sweetness that’s hard to describe. This one is bright, and the combination of tart citrus with sweet berry-like fruit flavors makes for a really drinkable cider. At 8.4%-AbV and with a big 19.2-oz can, I’d recommend sharing this with some friends, and believe me, they will thank you when they get their first taste.

Portland Cider Description – Cheers To The Land Limited Release Marionberry Mosaic cider: Crafted with locally-grown marionberries and Salmon-safe Mosaic hops, this cider is a fresh and fun recipe we brought out from the archives. This release is one of the 15 beers, ciders, and kombuchas brewed around the state in partnership with Oregon Agricultural Trust (OAT), and a portion of all sales across participants will benefit OAT directly. It’s hard to describe the taste of marionberries. They look like a blackberry, but for me, they are much sweeter, more earthy, a bit citrusy, and even a bit floral. Now add in the citrusy Galaxy hops, and you have a really interesting mix of flavors going on. I would call it slightly sweet with fresh berry flavors, with just a touch of citrus bite and bitterness at the end. We’re not talking IPA-levels of bitterness, but I can definitely taste the Mosaic hops. I’d say this cider is bright, well-balanced, and really drinkable in a beer-like way (that’s a good thing for me).

English Pub is a really complex and drinkable cider, and the fact that it leans a bit dry made it even more enjoyable for me. I prefer dry ciders, and I find that if they are dry, they are much more drinkable compared to an overly sweet cider. This cider has a really interesting combination of apple flavors, and it finishes crisp and clean. There are at least six different apple varieties on board with this cider, and I swear I can taste each one. The balance is perfect for me, and I believe I have found a new all-time favorite cider in Portland Cider English Pub.

Overall: I’m happy to say that I really enjoyed each and every one of these ciders. I also really like how Portland Cider picked the perfect can size for each cider, with 12-oz, 16-oz, and even 19.2-oz cans. I found each one of these ciders to be unique, drinkable, and really enjoyable in its own way. If I had to pick a favorite, English Pub wins, and Huckleberry Lemonade is a close second, followed by a two-way tie for third with Marionberry Mosaic Cider and Imperial Blood Orange Pomegranate Cider.
