Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights Short’s The Double Magician

This evening we’re test driving a new seasonal release from Short’s called The Double Magician. As you may have guessed, this beer is a double version of The Magician, a dark red London-style ale. This new beer is a double London-style red ale, and if you’re not familiar with the style, this would be a great beer to learn more about it. Traditionally, this style has complex malt combinations and a very light hop…so off we go.

The Double Magician pours a deep ruby color and the aromas lead with sweet caramel and toffee and end with a pleasant citrus pop. The flavors follow with more toffee, and slight twist of orange with a dry slightly roasty finish. I really liked the dark fruit flavors with just enough citrusy hops to balance it all out. All in all a very drinkable and unusual beer.
This beer is available now (beginning 10/31) in six-packs of 12oz bottles in MI, PA, OH, IN, IL and WI. The Double Magician hits a very sneaky 8.1%-AbV and a surprising 49 IBU, so be sure to share it with a friend. Try this beer
for yourself…
and when you do, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
