Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights Short’s Brewing – Nicie American Wheat

If you don’t immediately recognize the name of this beer, I’m pretty sure most Short’s fans will still remember the beer.  This is Short’s Brewing Nicie or as we like to call it, the beer formerly known as “Nicie Spicie.”  The full naming story is here, but more importantly…let’s talk about the beer.

Nicie is an American wheat ale brewed with orange zest, lemon zest, coriander and peppercorn, and while that sounds like a simple mix, the sum of the parts is much more than the individual ingredients….in other words…it’s a really good beer that I think you’ll really like.

Before we even start, I should say that the new packaging looks great, and I think it actually conveys really well the beer you’re about to taste.  Nicie pours a deep golden color and you won’t be confused trying to decipher the aroma….it’s all citrus…and I mean that in a good way.  The aroma is fresh with loads of what I thought was tangerine and the taste is even better.  Nicie follows up the aroma with flavors of citrus, but with some soft peppery and spicey notes.  I really liked how Nicie played with the balance between a traditional American wheat ale and an almost Belgian-style wit.  The beer is bright, really drinkable and I suspect there will be lots of collers filled with Nicie this summer.

Short’s will be releasing Nicie in 12oz bottles and kegs beginning on May 23rd so get out there and try some for yourself…and when you do, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
