Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Irish Setter By Red Wing Shoes Setter Fifty (Review)

Back in Nov 2023 I brought you the first news of a new series of boots coming from Irish Setter By Red Wing Shoes. The boots are called Setter Fifty and they’re designed to wear as a casual boot after you get home from work or from hunting. I wear Red Wing boots to work most every day in winter, so naturally I was excited to get a chance to try out the pre-production Setter Fifty.

These boots are inspired by the original 1950’s Irish Setter boots and they feature the a white wedge sole and a sewn moc toe upper as well as an ExtraLight® sole made from 51% recycled materials. The boots also have a CuShin™ tongue with a four-way knit cuff to make the boots comfortable on your shin. Of course I can’t wait to try out these boots, so off we go…

I should start out by saying the Setter Fifty look great. Mine are the men’s style 3918 with a full grain leather color I would describe as caramel-brown. This leather comes from Leather Working Group Gold-Rated Tanneries and this sustainably produced leather has to be one of the best looking boot uppers I own. The uppers have an almost suede-like feel to the leather and the sturdy leather loop on the heel makes them easy to put on and take off. The Goodyear Welt sole makes these boots feel cushiony soft yet really secure even on slipper surfaces and it allows you to extend the life of the boot making resoling easier.

The white stitching and white flecked sole make these boots really attractive and fashionable and their performance easily lives up to that classic look. The knit cuff at the top of the 6-inch boots makes them really comfortable without pinching against your ankles or socks as you move around and the sturdy 6-eyelet lacing makes them feel even more secure.

After wearing the boots for a few days, I can’t help but notice not only how comfortable they are, but also just how lightweight the Setter Fifty Are. These boots weigh just over 1-pound 3-ounces per boot and you’ll really appreciate that light weight after a hard day working. I also thought the tiny little Irish Setter logo branded into the heels made the boots look really unique and cool.

I should also mention that the Setter Fifty are not only good looking and lightweight, but their outsole manufacturing also saves around 50% of mineral resources and 50% scraps from disposal, so these are an environmentally positive set of boots as well.

Overall I’d say that Irish Setter By Red Wing Shoes have another winner on their hands. The Setter Fifty are the perfect boot to bridge the gap between work and casual wear while still performing like the classic Red Wing Irish Setter work boots of the past. The Setter Fifty are comfortable, lightweight and simply a great looking pair of boots that I know you will love as much as I do.

The Irish Setter By Red Wing Shoes Setter Fifty will be available in Spring 2024 so get out there and try them for yourself…and when you do try them (and love them) be sure to let us know what YOU think.  zzubreebym
