I don’t know about you, but when I hear “Elysian Brewing” I think about pumpkin beers. Maybe it was because of how famous they were for their pumpkin offerings, or maybe it was because of just how good their pumpkin beers are.

With that in mind, I was really excited to get my hands on a decidedly non-pumpkin beer coming from Elysian Brewing called Full Contact.

The beer is an imperial hazy IPA that is brewed with Simcoe, Centennial and Strata hops and it will be joining Contact Haze in Elysian’s “contact” family of hazy beers. Also be sure to watch for the upcoming new member of the family, Altered Contact coming later in 2021. If that’s not enough fun, all three beers will be available in a Trilogy Pack coming in March 2021.

Of course I’m excited to get in “contact” with this big beer sooner rather than later…so off we go:

Elysian Brewing Full Contact

ABV:  8.8%
IBU: 60
Style:  Imperial Hazy IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Hazy golden
Aroma:  Fresh tropical fruit, citrus & pine
Mouthfeel:  Resinous and satisfying
Taste:   Bright citrus, grapefruit and tropical fruits with a late resinous pine hit
Overall:  Elysian Full Contact definitely makes “full contact” with your palate. While it would be easy to say this beer is fruit-forward, the punch of citrus, oranges and mixed tropical fruits comes on strong (in a good way) and remains through most of each sip. The finish leans a bit into earthy and dank hoppy flavors and the overall mix makes for a really drinkable and slightly boozy imperial IPA. This is a really nice beer that just happens to be a fruit-forward hazy imperial IPA.

Based on the label, I’d say this beer is commanding you to drink it!  Elysian Full Contact Imperial Hazy IPA is available now in 12oz canned 6-packs so be sure to get out there and try it for yourself. And when you do try it (and you will) be sure to let us know what YOU think.
