Iron Hill Celebrates Phillies Home Opener

TO CELEBRATE BASEBALL HOME OPENER
WITH PHILLIES-THEMED BEERS AND HOT DOGS ALL WEEK LONG

WEST CHESTER, PA – From Monday, April 9 to Sunday, April 15, Brewer Mike Rutkowski and Chef Anthony Young of Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (3 West Gay Street, 610-738-9600) will host a week-long Home Opener Hot Dog and Beer Party, featuring a menu of Phillies-inspired hot dogs and beers to celebrate the team’s home opener.  Guests are encouraged to don Phils gear and root, root, root for the home team over beers and hot dogs named after players on the starting lineup as the 2012 season gets underway starting with the 1:05 p.m. home opener on April 9 at Citizen’s Bank Park.

“We love beer, and we love baseball – so why not put them together the way nature and the Phillies intended?” says Rutkowski.  “With our hot dog menu, there’s no better place to watch the game if you can’t be at the game.”

The “Starting Lineup” beer menu will include:  Phil’s Pils;  Flyin’ Hawaiian Pineapple Saison;  Rye ‘n’ Howard Rye IPA;  Hoppy Halladay Double Red Ale;  Blanton Brown Ale;  Charlie Man-u-Ale;  Polanco’s Porter;  and May ‘Berry’ Wheat.  Beers will be available on draught on a pay-as-you-go basis until they are consumed by rabid Phillies fans.

Phillies hot dogs will include:  The Chili Chooooooch Dog, with beef and bean chili, cheddar cheese and onions;  The Flyin’ Hawaiian Dog, with pineapple chutney, bacon, red onions and cilantro aioli;  The J-Roll Dog, smoked pork with creamy coleslaw and sweet mustard sauce;  The Jim Thominator, topped with smoked cheddar mac’n’cheese, chopped bacon and ketchup;  The Antonio Bastar-Dog, bacon-wrapped and topped with pico de gallo, avocado, jalapenos and sour cream;  Harry the K-Dog, with sauerkraut, chopped onion and spicy brown mustard;  and Hunter’s “Let’s Go Eat” Dog, a grilled bratwurst with sautéed peppers and onions and thousand-island dressing. 

At Iron Hill West Chester on Sundays, they serve a $21.95 “Prime Time” Dinner from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a choice of prime rib or seared salmon, plus a garden salad or cup of soup and a pint of house beer or a glass of house wine.  Happy Hour is held Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with specials including $3 house beers and $4 seasonal beers, seasonal drinks and house wine, served throughout the bar and cocktail areas.  Iron Hill also offers a daily take-out special of two pizzas and a growler of house beer to go for just $25.
