I flinch every time I get a Press Release mentioning another closure, and today I have one from Barrel One Collective and Five Boroughs Brewing in Brooklyn, New York. Thankfully, it’s only a taproom closure and they are looking for a new New York City location:

Brooklyn, NY (October 28, 2025) – After eight years of pouring pints, hosting friends, and calling Sunset Park home, Five Boroughs will close its taproom at 215 47th Street on December 21, 2025.

The decision comes as the terms of the lease end in 2025. While the brand will be leaving its original home, Five Boroughs remains deeply committed to finding its next home within New York City with a focus on foot traffic and taproom experience versus manufacturing space. The search for that new space is actively underway.

“This taproom has been so much more than four walls and a bar,” said Kevin O’Donnell, Co-Founder of Five Boroughs. “It’s been a gathering place for neighbors, a home for our team, and a symbol of what we set out to build — a beer brand that celebrates every corner of New York. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, I’m incredibly grateful for the community that has supported us from day one.”

While Five Boroughs looks for its next home, the Brooklyn Cannery plans to take over the location and will continue to serve Five Boroughs favorites while extending the space into a daytime café and event venue
 — allowing the brand to keep a small presence in its first home even after the move.

“We’re sad to close this chapter at Five Boroughs, but this is not the end of the story.” said Rob Day, VP Of Marketing at Barrel One Collective, parent company of Five Boroughs. “We’re proud of what this team and this space have meant to New York beer. We’re excited to find the right home that allows us to continue showing up for this city the way it’s always shown up for us.”

In the coming weeks, fans are invited to visit the Sunset Park taproom, share memories, and raise a glass to its legacy before doors close on December 21.
