Double Mountain Introduces 2024 Devil’s Kriek Cuvee and 2025 Pêche Mode
| Craft beer enthusiasts and fans of barrel-aged complexity have a reason to celebrate as Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery highlights the meticulous artistry behind its renowned Brewer’s Reserve sour program. Built on patience, wild fermentation, and local Hood River Valley fruit, these limited-edition releases capture the true beauty of time-honored brewing traditions. Showcasing two exceptional new additions—the 2025 Pêche Mode and the 2024 Devil’s Cuvée Kriek—this year’s lineup proves that extraordinary craftsmanship cannot be rushed. Read on for the official press release detailing these exquisite Belgian-style sour ales, their intricate aging process, and how you can secure a bottle for your cellar. Two New Sour Beer Offerings Available Now! Some beers take weeks to make. These take years. Our Brewer’s Reserve Sour Program has always been one of our favorite passion projects. Every year we brew a small batch of Belgian-style sour ales using locally grown Hood River fruit, our house yeast cultures, and Brettanomyces, then we let time do the rest. These beers spend months, and sometimes years, developing character before they’re finally ready to share. This year’s releases are 2025 Pêche Mode and 2024 Devil’s Cuvée Kriek, two very different beers that celebrate the fruit, patience, and process behind our sour program. Pêche Mode starts with nearly 500 pounds of Hood River peaches that rest on the beer for almost a year. The result is bright, juicy, and lightly funky, with fresh peach, citrus, and a crisp, tart finish that’s incredibly refreshing. Devil’s Cuvée Kriek begins as our cherry sour before spending another year in American oak barrels. The extra time transforms it into something bold and layered, full of dark cherry, blackberry, currant, vanilla, and oak, finishing dry and tannic like a beautiful red wine. Of course, brewing with Brettanomyces isn’t all romance. Once these beers are finished, the brewery gets one of the deepest cleanings of the year. “We practically take the brewery apart and scrub everything down,” says Head Brewer Greg Balch. “It’s days of work, but that’s the price of making beers like these. They’re unlike anything else we brew, and they’re absolutely worth the effort.” And the story doesn’t end here. A portion of this year’s Pêche Mode has already been tucked away in freshly emptied Devil’s Cuvée barrels, where it will spend another year evolving into Pêche Cuvée, coming in late summer 2027. Both beers are available now in limited 375mL bottles at all Double Mountain locations, with small draft pours appearing while they last. If you’ve been waiting for this year’s Brewer’s Reserve releases, now’s the time… they won’t be around for long. |
![]() Our Pêche Mode holds nearly 500 pounds of peaches, this sour Belgian Ale ferments on the fruit with our house yeast and Brettanomyces Claussenii for the better part of a year. The result is a juicy, funky paradise. Lightly tart and refreshing, this one drinks easy, with ripe peach and dewy citrus peeking through a farmhouse of funk. Our Devil’s Cuvée Kriek, made from local Van and Bing cherries sits on the fruit for nearly a year. This Cuvée version spent an additional year on new American oak, deepening in color and complexity. It drinks almost like a big, bold red wine, bursting with notes of dark berries, tobacco, and vanilla, and finishes dry and tannic. ![]() |
