Choosing a Beer Club – The Microbrewed Beer Of The Month Club / Rare Beer Club

I’ve been a member of many different Beer Clubs over the years, so I thought I’d pass on my experiences for some of these clubs with one post highlighting each club. I’ll add links so you can compare and contrast. These are my personal experiences so your mileage may vary. This club is unique in that they offer FOUR different club subscriptions you can join or give as a gift. These four levels or “membership types” vary in price, they vary in the quantity of beer you receive and they vary in the types and styles of beers you receive. Here’s the current breakdown:
The U.S. Microbrewed Beer Club
$27.95 per month plus $15 S&H
Members get twelve, 12-oz. microbrewed beers from two different lightly distributed U.S. Microbreweries. Each shipment includes four different beer styles, three bottles or cans of each style, and our monthly newsletter detailing tasting notes, beer specifications, brewery profiles, suggested food pairings, and more.
The U.S. and International Variety Beer Club
$31.95 per month plus $15 S&H
Offering the greatest variety, our most popular club features domestic and international beers from both U.S. craft breweries as well as imported selections from time-honored breweries in some of the world’s most respected brewing countries such as Germany, Belgium and England. Members get twelve, 12-oz. beers including four different beer styles from both US and imported breweries, three bottles or cans of each style, and our monthly newsletter.
The International Beer Club
$34.95 per month plus $15 S&H
For those most interested in exploring international beers crafted abroad, members of our International Beer Club get twelve, 12-oz. beers from two different imported breweries. Each shipment includes two different beer styles, six bottles or cans of each style, and our monthly newsletter.
You may notice I mentioned FOUR clubs, and there are only three above. Recently there was a merging of some of these beer clubs and the The Microbrewed Beer Of The Month Club added in The Rare Beer Club. The Rare Beer Club provides a variety of really rare and hard-to-find American and International brews, and their memberships vary by the quantity of bottles you receive each month. I have been a long time member of the Rare Beer Club, and I’ve found their selections to be really unique and predominantly very “rare” as their name implies. I was in the 4-bottle club so I always had one bottle of each beer to enjoy and one to share at beer splits, and I can tell you no one every duplicated the beers I brought from the Rare Beer Club. Just look at this months selections and you’ll see what I mean.
