Cheers to American Craft Beer Week May 11-17
Show your support for Oregon’s 300 breweries and taprooms with a pint.
PORTLAND, Oregon. — This week is American Craft Beer Week – a time to celebrate Oregon’s beer prowess as ranking 12th in the nation for most craft breweries according to the Brewers Association.
“It’s been a challenging few years for Oregon’s breweries. It’s time to turn the page and celebrate Oregon beer,” said Lisa Allen, President of the Oregon Brewers Guild and co-owner of Heater Allen Brewing and Gold Dot Beer. “Beer is still an essential part of Oregon’s history, identity and economy. American Craft Beer Week is the perfect excuse to visit your favorite brewery or taproom and support this vital industry that helped put our state on the map.”
At the recent World Beer Cup Awards, Oregon breweries brought home the second most medals, only behind California.
According to Beer Serves America data, Oregon is home to more than 300 breweries, brewpubs and taprooms generating more than $8.9 billion in economic output, $2.8 billion in wages, creating 46,700 jobs in the state. It’s so important to the local economy, Oregon is the fifth most beer-job reliant state, accounting for 1 out of every 633 jobs in Oregon.
