Cape May Brewing Company Receives Lower Township Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Award

Cape May, NJ — Cape May Brewing Company (CMBC) is thrilled to be awarded the Lower Township Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Award for 2017.

The Lower Township Chamber of Commerce is organized to promote business and community growth and development by promoting economic programs to strengthen and expand the potential of businesses within the Township. They promote programs of civic, social, and cultural importance, designed to increase business opportunities and aesthetic values of the community.

“I’m jazzed our team was recognized by the Chamber,” says CMBC CEO and co-owner Ryan Krill. “It’s the proof that we’re working hard to make an impact on our families and community.“

As part of the brewery’s Core Value of “Be a Good Neighbor,” the brewery has undertaken several initiatives to assist and support numerous organizations throughout the Cape May area. Over the past few years, CMBC has hosted numerous Pint Nights, raising money to support such worthy causes as the Cape May chapter of the NJ Audubon Society, the Cape May Food Closet, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities, and Matt Szczur’s Szcz the Day initiative to raise funds for the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation.

Cape May Brewing Company has spearheaded several projects to support the cultural and philanthropic life of the Cape May region. For the past four years, CMBC has been the official beer sponsor of the Exit Zero Cape May Jazz Festival. They’ve sponsored TEDxCapeMay, bringing ideas worth spreading to the people of Cape May, and they’ve partnered with numerous non-profit organizations to bring Pop-Up Beer Gardens throughout the area over the summer.

In addition, Cape May Brewing Co. has supported the ongoing tourism initiatives of Cape May County. To celebrate the County’s 325th anniversary this year, the brewery released Follow the Gull IPA, loading it with 325 pounds of hops per batch and naming the beer for the ubiquitous signs that dot the route from Cape May to Atlantic City.

The award was presented to Cape May Brewing Company co-owner and vice president Robert “Mop Man” Krill at a dinner at the Lighthouse Point Waterfront Restaurant and Bar In Shawcrest, NJ, on October 12, 2017.

Once upon a time, 20-something Ryan Krill earned a six-figure salary working in finance and real estate development in Manhattan, while his college roommate, Chris Henke, designed commercial satellites. During a summer weekend at the Jersey shore, they brewed a batch of beer with Ryan’s dad. “Should we open a brewery?” Ryan asked, only half-serious.
