Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights XTRATUF Legacy & Legacy Lace Boots (Review)

When I first tried out a pair of boots from XTRATUF, I thought I had found the perfect brewery work boots; but with the latest boots that XTRATUF just sent over for a test drive, I may have found an all new favorite (maybe two).

If you’re not familiar with XTRATUF footwear, then you should be…and I mean that even if you’re not a brewery worker, fisherman or other wet environment worker. And today’s boots are perfect examples of why.

XTRATUF has been around for a long time, and in fact the Legacy Boot hit the Alaskan fishing scene over 50-years ago. That boot is waterproof, flexible and durable and as XTRATUF puts it, the Legacy boot “is made to keep you dry, stable and always working comfortable…in fact they’re part of what it means to be Alaskan.” These boots are the real deal and if you work, play or just hang out in a wet or cold environment, these are the boots for you.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights XTRATUF Legacy & Legacy Lace Boots (Review)

I’ve had my fair share of duck-style boots come and go in my lifetime and even name brands wore out quickly for me , had slippery soles, leaked water eventually, and even with all sorts of insoles, they were just plain cold. With winter and Covid hitting the northeast at the same time, more and more people are working outside and as my local brewery workers can attest, having work boots that are only waterproof isn’t enough when you’re outside as part of your job as well.

Today we’re test driving the XTRATUF Men’s 15” Legacy Mossy Oak and the Men’s 6” Legacy Lace boots.

Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights XTRATUF Legacy & Legacy Lace Boots (Review)Up first is the Men’s 15-Inch Legacy Mossy Oak boot. These boots are 15-inches tall, but they have a cool mossy oak camo pattern on the interior lining that you can fold down to wear them as a lower boot showing off the pattern. To say these are waterproof would be an understatement. The boots have triple-dipped shells for extra-tough and extra watertight protection. Step in deep water or get your feet under a running hose in these boots and your socks will remain dry. I blasted them with a hose and worked them through heavy mud and 10-inches of water and they were flawlessly dry. If that’s not enough, the boots protect against acids, corrosives and contaminants (they are Viral Penetration Resistant per ASTM F1671 / F1671M-13).

The Legacy boots are really comfortable with open cell foam cushioned footbed insoles with arch support and the outer latex neoprene is softer, lighter and more pliable than traditional rubber boots. They weigh roughly 5.15-pounds and were easy to wear all day working in a wet environment without fatigue.

The Legacy boots have a slip-resistant non-marking outsole that is SRA rated and feels really secure even on my slippery wet Epoxy garage floor. I also tested them out in a wet and muddy garden area and they were once again flawless. No leaks, comfortable to wear for hours, and no slipping with the great treads. I definitely appreciated the ability to wear the Legacy boots at their full height or fold them down to help cool my feet a bit more too.

Overall the Men’s 15-Inch Legacy Mossy Oak boot is a really capable work boot for a lot of environments like a brewery worker, gardener or fisherman. The boots perform really well and feel very comfortable no matter what you’re doing.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights XTRATUF Legacy & Legacy Lace Boots (Review)

Up next I was excited to test drive the Men’s 6-Inch Legacy Lace boot. These boots include many of the great features in the 15-inch, but in a lower style boot. They are still 100% waterproof to the stitch line and they have a triple-dipped seamless lower unit that is acid, oil and chemical resistant. To that base, XTRATUF adds a full-grain waterproof leather upper with laces. This combination makes them feel more familiar like a traditional duck boot, but with way more features and durability.

These boots also lived up to (and beyond) their waterproof expectations keeping my feet warm and dry even when under a running hose or in a muddy garden.  Once again the built-in cushioned insoles with arch support provide for all-day comfort and the slip-resistant chevron outsole made them feel very safe and secure on wet and slippery surfaces. These boots weigh 4.86-pounds and they were very comfortable to wear for longer work sessions too.

Overall I believe the Men’s 6-Inch Legacy Lace boots have to be my new favorite boot. The boots are waterproof, warm and slip-resistant making for a great all-around work and non-work boot. My brewery friends really loved them because they offered a functional and capable working boot, with the comfort and style of a non-work boot. These boots have now become my go-to for everything from car washing to wet gardening and I can’t wait to try them out when the weather turns to snow as well.

Be sure to check out the XTRATUF Men’s 15-Inch Legacy Mossy Oak and Men’s 6-Inch Legacy Lace boots for yourself and while you’re at it, check out the entire Legacy lineup or all of the great footwear that XTRATUF has to offer. I found these boots to be waterproof, warm, slip-resistant, comfortable and perhaps most important, really durable. These boots are built to perform and built to last and I know you’ll love them as much as I do.

When you do try XTRATUF out for yourself, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
