Jester King Adding Mr. Mingo Raspberry Edition & Grisette With Blueberries

Here’s a new Mingo coming from Jester King in Austin, TX. This is Mr. Mingo Raspberry Edition and it will be a farmhouse sour ale brewed with hibiscus and lactose that is refermented with Tahitian vanilla beans and raspberries. This variant will swim in at 6.6%-AbV and you’;re looking at the 750ml bottle. Stay tuned for release info (bottles July 2021). I’ve also added in Grisette ale refermented with blueberries (5.7%-AbV, 750ml bottles).

Our latest batch of Mr. Mingo Hibiscus Saison is out today! Continuing the Tiki-inspiration behind Mr. Mingo, we added Tahitian vanilla and raspberries from this year’s Atrial Rubicite.

Brewed with well water, Texas barley, oats, milk sugar, raw wheat, hops, and roselle hibiscus. Fermented with JK mixed culture in stainless steel. We get notes of berries and cream and raspberry Greek yogurt. 6.6% abv.

Released today at Jester King. By the glass and in 750ml bottles ($18). About 1,500 bottles available. Limited distro. Proxies welcome. Shipping/delivery illegal in Texas.

2022 MR. MINGO HIBISCUS SAISON

Our original version of Mr. Mingo Hibiscus Saison is here! Our motto at Jester King is we brew what we like, drink what we want, and offer the rest to those who share our tastes. This summer, we felt like drinking the original version of Mr. Mingo, which is simply a farmhouse ale brewed with Roselle Hibiscus.

But don’t let the simplicity of the recipe and concept belie the complexity of the beer. Mr. Mingo is brewed with well water, Texas-grown barley and wheat, and fermented in stainless steel with our mixed culture brewers yeast and naturally-occurring yeast from our land. It’s refreshing, effervescent, slightly herbal, mildly tart, and overall very drinkable. Most importantly, it’s uniquely tied with the Texas Hill Country, the summer months, and the people of Jester King.
