My Local Brew Works Beer Now Available Exclusively at Monk’s Café

My Local Brew Works (MLBW), Philadelphia’s only custom craft brewery focused on special events and contract brewing, is proud to announce its first official beer is now on tap at world-famous beer lovers destination Monk’s Café, in the city’s Rittenhouse neighborhood. Renegade Bernadette is a Norwegian Farmhouse Ale and was brewed in collaboration with Monk’s Café Founder-Owner and beer aficionado Tom Peters and takes its moniker from Monk’s Partner, Manager, and employee of 26 years, Bernadette Roe.

Renegade Bernadette uses a Saison-style base recipe fermented with a Kveik yeast, noted for its fruity profile, at a warm temperature, and generously dry hopped with Azacca hops. The final result is a mash up of a Saison, a Norwegian Farmhouse Ale, and an American Pale Ale that weighs-in at 6.5% ABV.

"The beer turned out amazing," said Peters, "Our friend and neighbor Ken of the Dwight D Hotel reached out the other night and said ‘I want to pass on my highest compliments to Renegade Burnadette. Literally the best beer I’ve ever had.’ We’re very impressed."

My Local Brew Works launched in June of 2022 with an original concept: Custom Craft Brewing. Rather than retail or direct to public sales, the brewery offers customers the chance to design a beer from the grain up. Style, ingredients, and even the label design is customizable, with customers afforded as much (or little) hands-on involvement as desired, culminating in a brew day experience held on-site at the scenic Globe Dye Works building in Frankford.

Renegade Bernadette is currently available on tap exclusively at Monk’s Café at $7 for a 10 oz pour while supplies last.
