Today I have another exciting new NA beer coming from Pipeworks Brewing Co. in Chicago, Illinois, a brewery known for its fearless creativity and bold, art‑driven releases. This one is called NA Lizard King, and it’s a non‑alcoholic pale ale that swings in at less than 0.5% ABV, brewed with natural flavor and packaged in 16‑oz cans. Pipeworks continues to push boundaries, and this release proves that even “near beer” can deliver full‑on craft character.

NA Lizard King builds on the legacy of the original Lizard King Pale Ale, one of Pipeworks’ most iconic beers. The non‑alcoholic version captures the same hop‑forward attitude, citrus brightness, and crisp drinkability that fans love, but without the alcohol. Expect aromas of grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruit, followed by a clean malt backbone and a refreshing finish. It’s designed for craft drinkers who want flavor, not compromise, a beer that fits perfectly into the growing movement toward mindful drinking.

The label artwork is classic Pipeworks: a fierce green lizard warrior clad in armor, wielding a sword, and surrounded by a burst of yellow and green energy. The design, created by Beejay Olson, reflects the brewery’s signature comic‑book aesthetic, bold, colorful, and instantly recognizable. The can reads “Near Beer with Natural Flavor” and “Contains Less Than 0.5% Alc by Vol,” emphasizing its non‑alcoholic nature while maintaining the attitude and visual punch of the original.

Pipeworks has always been known for its creativity, and NA Lizard King fits perfectly into its lineup of imaginative, genre‑defying beers. This release shows how far craft brewing has come in embracing non‑alcoholic innovation. It’s not just a substitute; it’s a statement that great beer flavor can thrive without the buzz.

Expect NA Lizard King to roll out across Pipeworks’ Chicago distribution network and select national retailers later this year. Fans of the original Lizard King will find this version familiar yet refreshing, a perfect option for those who want to stay sharp while still enjoying the craft experience. Release details are pending.

About Pipeworks Brewing Co:

Founded in 2012 in Chicago, Illinois, Pipeworks Brewing Co. has become one of the most distinctive and influential craft breweries in the Midwest. Known for its bold artwork, imaginative beer names, and fearless approach to brewing, Pipeworks has built a reputation for creativity that extends far beyond its hometown. The brewery’s mission is simple: make beer that excites, inspires, and challenges expectations.

Pipeworks first gained national attention with its Lizard King Pale Ale, a hop‑forward beer that quickly became a Chicago staple. From there, the brewery expanded its lineup with cult favorites like Ninja vs. Unicorn Double IPA, Blood of the Unicorn Red Ale, and Close Encounter Black IPA. Each release showcases the brewery’s commitment to flavor intensity, visual storytelling, and uncompromising quality.

The brewery’s art‑driven identity is a major part of its appeal. Every label is a piece of visual storytelling, often featuring fantastical creatures, comic‑book heroes, and surreal landscapes. This creative approach reflects the personality of the brewery itself — independent, imaginative, and unapologetically bold. Pipeworks’ artwork, led by co‑founder and artist Beejay Olson, has become iconic in the craft beer world, instantly recognizable on shelves and in taprooms.

Pipeworks operates out of its Chicago facility, where it continues to produce small‑batch beers alongside larger distribution runs. The brewery’s commitment to innovation has led to collaborations with other craft icons and experimental projects that explore new styles, ingredients, and brewing techniques. Their beers consistently balance intensity with drinkability, appealing to both seasoned enthusiasts and casual drinkers.

As the craft beer landscape evolves, Pipeworks remains at the forefront of creativity. The release of NA Lizard King demonstrates the brewery’s willingness to embrace change while staying true to its roots. By bringing its signature hop character and artistic flair to the non‑alcoholic category, Pipeworks proves that great beer isn’t defined by ABV — it’s defined by passion, flavor, and imagination.

With NA Lizard King, Pipeworks Brewing Co. continues to lead Chicago’s craft scene, reminding drinkers everywhere that innovation and artistry are the true hallmarks of modern brewing.
