Double Mountain Brings a Historic American Cider Apple Back to the Spotlight with Harrison Cider
| Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery is proud to announce the release of Harrison Hard Cider, the final offering in its 2026 seasonal cider lineup, joining Estate Heirloom Hard Cider, Perry Hard Cider, Maybelline Hard Cider, Zora Hard Cider, and Foxwhelp Hard Cider. As always, Double’s seasonal lineup is focused on showcasing the fruit as nature intended it, meaning they do not backsweeten their ciders and often focus on a single variety of apple. Crafted exclusively from Harrison apples grown in Double Mountain’s orchard near Hood River, Swihart Orchard, this single varietal cider celebrates one of America’s most historic cider apples. Harrison showcases the remarkable complexity that made this once-famous apple a favorite among cider makers centuries ago. Thought to have been lost to time before being rediscovered in the modern cider renaissance, the Harrison apple was one of the most celebrated cider varieties of the 18th century. Long before Oregon became a state, Harrison Hard Cider was enjoyed throughout the northeastern United States and was prized for its rich character and exceptional flavor. Pouring a deep wildflower honey color, Harrison Hard Cider opens with aromas of green apple, orange blossom, tart dessert pear, flower garden blooms, white wine grape, and blackberry honey. On the palate, notes of yellow kiwi, white table grape, Granny Smith apple rind, tangerine, and honeydew lead to a finish of Bartlett pear, starfruit, light tannins, and a pleasantly off-dry balance with a touch of refreshing tartness. Unlike many modern dessert apples grown primarily for fresh eating, Harrison is a true cider apple. Its naturally balanced tannins, acidity, and sugar create a cider with remarkable depth and structure, making it one of the few varieties capable of standing entirely on its own. Rich, aromatic, and full-bodied, Harrison offers cider drinkers a rare opportunity to experience a piece of cider history through a contemporary lens. |
| Harrison Hard Cider is now available in 500ml refillable bottles at all Double Mountain taprooms and select retailers. Cheers! |
