Budweiser is a well-known American-style pale lager, brewed with a blend of premium hop aromas and barley malt, and up to 30% rice, according to the brewery’s website. Introduced in 1876 by Adolphus Busch, it was one of the first beers to become a truly national brand due to innovations like pasteurization and refrigerated rail cars, allowing for long-distance shipping without spoilage. The brand is often associated with the famous “Budweiser Clydesdales,” the large draft horses that debuted in 1933 to celebrate the end of Prohibition.

Brewing Style:It’s an American-style pale lager, brewed to be a medium-bodied, flavorful, and crisp beer.

Key Ingredients:Budweiser is made with a blend of premium American and European hop aromas, along with barley malt and up to 30% rice.

Brewing Process:The brand uses time-honored methods, including “kraeusening” for natural carbonation and beechwood aging, which imparts balance and character.

History:Birth in 1876: Adolphus Busch aimed to create the U.S.’s first national beer brand, inspired by European lagers.

National Distribution: Innovations like pasteurization and refrigerated rail cars were crucial to making it the first beer shipped coast-to-coast.

Clydesdale Connection: The iconic Clydesdales were a gift from the Busch family and are a lasting symbol of the brand.

Current Status:Budweiser is currently part of AB InBev, one of the world’s largest brewers, and is brewed in 63 breweries globally. It remains one of the largest-selling beers in the United States.
