Jack’s Abby Expanding Again

The last five years have been a whirlwind for us. Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers is at a point we could never have really imagined. We are very proud of what the brewery has accomplished, and grateful to everyone who has enjoyed a beer with us along the way.

During this time, we have had a million ideas. Many of them have been put into action, doing a lot of fun and hopefully tasty things with lagers. Some of our our ideas have proved unfeasible as we didn’t have the equipment to accomplish them the way they would have needed to be done or we simply didn’t have the space. Some just didn’t fit with what we were trying to accomplish with the brand. Plenty of our ideas were just plain silly, though Jack is still hopeful we will pull off his idea of an entire brand devoted to smoked lagers.

The move to the new facility has allowed us to realize many of our favorite ideas. The Beer Hall was our the original concept for the brewery before we decided to go down the production path instead. We had been ruminating on that concept since we first opened and are thrilled to see how it has come together. Our new brewing system was also selected to give us the ability to brew more traditional German lagers, something we had always wanted to do but was not possible at our old location. But we have more ideas!

We recently signed a lease for the building next to us. Many of you have noticed that the building is undergoing some changes; being painted green to match our current space, new windows, new roof, and many other improvements. This new space will house some of our ideas that we never had the space, time or tools to pursue in full. We will be bringing in equipment that will allow us to pursue some new ideas that we could not focus on with our current setup.

This week we are applying to the Planning Board in Framingham for an amendment to the special permits we received a year and a half ago. We are asking the Planning Board to allow us to do the same things (warehouse, manufacturing, tap room/retail space) that we are doing in our current space, in the new space next door.

If this all has seemed a bit vague, we apologize, but our exact plans are still in the works. We look forward to sharing our vision for the space next door and will do so once we have ironed out more of the details. Thank you again for all of your support. We would not be here without you.
