Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery is holding its annual Pre-Dark Lord Day on Friday, May 12 beginning at 4pm. The day also marks the tapping and bottle release of Flossmoor Station’s most infamous brew, Wooden Hell, also known as the greatest barleywine the world (and underworld) has ever seen!
Originally released in 2006, Wooden Hell is a 9.1% alcohol by volume (ABV) barrel aged barleywine that received bronze in its category at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival. The original bottles are also among some of the most coveted for craft beer aficionados, fetching up to $450 per bottle on the secondary market.
Flossmoor Station Brewmaster Ryan Czaja collaborated with former Flossmoor Brewmaster and Wooden Hell founder Matt Van Wyk to brew the second coming of Wooden Hell last summer. It has been aging in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels ever since. Matt will be on hand during Pre-Dark Lord Day to personally christen the second coming of his brew.
The tapping and public bottle sale will happen at 4pm at Pre-Dark Lord Day, an annual craft beer festival taking place on Flossmoor Station’s beer garden and caboose deck. Among the festivities will be craft beer and food sales, beer bottle exchanges and other special events for thirsty craft beer travelers.
Flossmoor Station will also open up a limited pre-sale for patrons wanting to ensure their acquisition of Wooden Hell before they’re sold out, and also avoid the long lines on Pre-Dark Lord Day for onsite purchases of this coveted limited release barleywine. The pre-sale will begin for Flossmoor Station Mug Club members on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. and to the public on Sunday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at woodenhell2.brownpapertickets.com.
Each 22 ounce bottle is $20, and patrons must purchase 4 bottles to participate in the pre-sale. The bottles must be picked up at Pre-Dark Lord Day. Must be 21 or over and present valid I.D. with receipt when picking up bottles.
