Sly Fox Announces 2018 EventsFrom Sly Fox:

March 8, 2018 — Pottstown, PA— 2018 promises to be another amazing year for beer events at the Sly Fox Brewing Company in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Their annual Bock Fest and Goat Race has been deemed "worthy of a beercation" by CraftBeer.com and called Philly’s "best beer event", they host the largest Kan Jam tournament in the world, and, outside of the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Sly Fox presents the region’s largest outdoor music festival. A permanent 9-hole disc golf course and an outdoor patio stage were recently added, while a wide open, grassy field neighboring the 30,000 square-foot brewery is the setting for many of the brewery’s imaginative annual events.

Every Sly Fox Brewing Company event is incredibly unique and each contributes to the compelling culture that is Sly Fox—something you need to experience for yourself by attending the events and enjoying the traditions, the vibes, and, of course, the beer!

There’s something cool happening at the Sly Fox Brewery all the time, but here are the bigger, can’t-miss events you’ll want to get on your calendar:

Right around Earth Day, every year, Sly Fox releases their sessionable, recreation-friendly SRT Ale. Named after the Schuylkill River Trail—Eastern Pennsylvania’s main artery for cycling, running, kayaking and canoeing—the SRT Ale release party is called the SRT Spree and features a free outdoor festival at a riverside park, local cleanups along the trail, kayak trips to the party and a serious 50k relay race on the trail. This year’s SRT Spree is happening on April 21 at St. Michael’s Park in Mont Clare, PA. For more information please visit, slyfoxbeer.com/srt-spree.

The following month, comes Sly Fox’s storied Bock Fest and Goat Race. Always celebrated on the first Sunday in May, 50+ competitive goats race for the honor of Sly Fox’s delicious Maibock being named for the winner and, of course, glory and bragging rights for the year! A German menu is offered to compliment what might be the largest offering of bock-style beers by any brewery in the United States at one time including: Slacker Bock, Hefeweizen Doppelbock, Instigator Doppelbock, an Eisbock and a Maibock. Festive German oompah music by the Emil Schanta Band and the funked-up accordion polka-rock of Alex Meixner Band fills the air and you can even catch coverage of the goat races on strategically-placed jumbotrons. Afterwards, some of the goats and their owners mingle with the crowd, delighting the many children in attendance at the family-friendly event. This year the Bock Fest and Goat Race will go down on May 6 at the Pottstown brewery. More information is available on the event, including past winners and how to register your own racer, at slyfoxbeer.com/bockfest.

Later in May, the brewery starts to gear-up for their big spring concert with a full day of music featuring curated bands and food trucks. Taps, Tunes and Trucks is a springtime outdoor concert featuring at least four bands and six food trucks to compliment the brewery’s delicious brick-oven pizza and house-made barbecue offerings. This chill day kicks-off with the popular Fox Trot 5k, and it all happens at the Pottstown brewery on May 19. Full details can be found at slyfoxbeer.com/taps-tunes-trucks.

Fall at Sly Fox means the release of their beloved Oktoberfest Lager and Can Jam—one of the largest and most outstanding outdoor music festivals in the region. With a unique rotating lineup of curated musical acts invited to play each year, the outdoor show happens after the world’s largest Kan Jam tournament featuring more than 155 teams. As Sly Fox was a pioneer of craft beer in cans, this uniquely fun time started as a celebration of the can, and has evolved into a legit concert event with multiple acts. The Kan Jam tournament is also pretty serious—with all participants competing to win their team’s weight in beer. A giant scale is brought out onto the stage and the winners step onto one side while the other is stacked with cases of beer until it balances out! The visual spectacle and aural treat is all free and it’s scheduled for September 29 at the brewery. More information at slyfoxbeer.com/canjam.

At Sly Fox, the action doesn’t end when the weather starts to turn. The brewery raises a pint to the Belgian tradition of cyclocross racing paired with beer, by hosting off-road races. With a course that draws serious cyclists from around the region and an atmosphere that is a favorite among spectators—and anyone who loves a good, lively outdoor beer garden—Sly Fox Cyclocross is a not-to-miss event. Bundle-up and join the fun that includes hundreds of racers from beginners to pros on November 11. To get all the deets, or to sign up to race yourself, keep an eye on slyfoxbeer.com/sly-fox-cyclocross.

Every year, the Sly Fox Brewing Company celebrates their beginnings with a festive birthday celebration at the original Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery in Phoenixville, PA. Join the crew on December 14 for amazing themed flights, one-of-a-kind food specials and live music—all to celebrate a brewery as well regarded for their authentically creative events as they are for their fine portfolio of authentic beers!
