These recipes are then combined to create a variety of bourbons, including their standard Four Roses Bourbon, Small Batch, and Single Barrel expressions.

History and Origin:

The Four Roses story began in 1888 with a romantic tale of a marriage proposal and a corsage of four roses, according to Four Roses.

Founder Paul Jones Jr. later trademarked the name and claimed production back to the 1860s.
The distillery is owned by Kirin Brewing Company, with Brent Elliott as Master Distiller and Al Young as Senior Brand Ambassador.

Production Process:
Four Roses uses two mash bills (recipes for the grain mixture): one with 60% corn, 35% rye, and 5% malted barley (Mash Bill B), and another with 75% corn, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley (Mash Bill E).
They also utilize five different proprietary yeast strains, each contributing unique flavor characteristics: delicate fruit, slightly spicy, rich fruit, floral essence, or herbal notes.

These combinations result in ten distinct bourbon recipes, which are then blended to create the standard Four Roses Bourbon.

The aging process takes place in single-story rackhouses in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky.
