Smuttynose Brewing is lining up a flavorful New Hampshire collaboration for 2026 with the release of The Common Man Darn Good Ale, a beer brewed in partnership with the iconic Common Man Family, one of the state’s most recognizable hospitality groups. Brewed in Hampton, New Hampshire, this collaboration highlights two long‑standing Granite State institutions coming together to create a beer that reflects local pride, approachable craftsmanship, and the warm, welcoming character both brands are known for. The Common Man Darn Good Ale is designed as a smooth, easy‑drinking 5.6% ABV ale that leans into classic American malt character with a clean, balanced finish, making it a natural fit for fans of sessionable craft beer and New England‑inspired collaborations.

This release also taps into the growing demand for regionally focused craft beer partnerships, where breweries team up with beloved local restaurants, chefs, and hospitality groups to create beers that feel rooted in place. With its moderate ABV, familiar flavor profile, and strong New Hampshire branding, The Common Man Darn Good Ale is positioned to resonate with both longtime Smuttynose drinkers and fans of the Common Man’s statewide network of restaurants, taverns, and inns. Expect this beer to appear in 12‑oz cans, perfect for pairing with comfort‑food classics, enjoying at home, or sharing at gatherings that celebrate New Hampshire’s craft beer culture.

More details on packaging, distribution, and the official release date will be coming soon, but early signs suggest this will be one of Smuttynose’s standout regional releases for 2026.

Founded in 1994, Smuttynose Brewing Company is a pioneer of the New England craft beer scene, originally established in Portsmouth and now headquartered on the historic Towle Farm in Hampton, New Hampshire. In late 2025, the company underwent a major shift following a merger with Mass. Bay Brewing Co. (the parent of Harpoon) to form the Barrel One Collective.

Current Operations & Experience
While Smuttynose continues to be a major regional brand, its physical footprint in Hampton has transitioned:
Brewing Move: As of late 2025, the brewing equipment in Hampton was auctioned off. Production for Smuttynose beers has been moved to facilities in Boston, MA and Windsor, VT.

Hampton Campus: The 17-acre site remains the brand’s headquarters and continues to operate as a community destination featuring:Smuttynose Restaurant: A farm-to-table eatery with a large outdoor patio and fire pit.

Activities: A free 9-hole disc golf course (with loaner discs available) and an event field for live music and festivals.

Tasting Bar & Retail: A shop for beer and merchandise, which remains LEED Gold certified for sustainability.

Pet-Friendly: The patio is famously dog-friendly, even offering “puppy patties” for four-legged guests.

Iconic Beers
Smuttynose is best known for its “Old World” styles updated with an American craft twist:

Finestkind IPA: Their flagship, known for its bold citrus and pine profile and 70 IBUs.
Old Brown Dog Ale: An award-winning American Brown Ale and one of the brewery’s earliest successes.
The Sours: Recently, their fruit-forward sours (like the Cherry Limeade and Blackberry Smash) have become some of the top-selling sours in the Northeast.
Smuttlabs: An experimental wing dedicated to rare, small-batch, and barrel-aged releases.
