Pelican Brewing Unveils Two New Spring Beer Releases

Mr. Lager’s Neighborhood and Overboard Triple IPA are now available throughout the Pacific Northwest


PACIFIC CITY, Oregon. (April 1, 2026) — Just in time for spring, Pelican Brewing Company has launched two new special-release beers, Mr. Lager’s Neighborhood and Overboard Triple IPA.

Pelican, which is independent and locally owned and operated, has launched a new collaboration series to highlight independent breweries and show support for the craft beer industry at large.


The first release in the series, Mr. Lager’s Neighborhood, is a collaboration between Pelican Brewing’s brewmaster, Darron Welch, and Southeast Portland Grand Fir’s brewmaster, Whitney Burnside, celebrating friendship and the collaborative brewing community in Oregon. The two brewmasters have a longtime connection: Burnside trained with Welch in the original Pelican Brewpub in Pacific City in her early years as a brewer — and won her first Great American Beer Festival medal for Poire, a fresh pear beer.


“We want to pay tribute to the hardworking brewers who are pursuing their passions every day and making great beers for their neighborhoods,” said brewmaster Welch of the collaboration series. “Working with Whitney on this first release of the series was such a fun way to honor our shared history and natural partnership. It was a true delight to create something together again and toast to the future of the industry as a team.”


Mr. Lager’s has an ABV of 5.7%; a bright hop bill featuring Strata and Cashmere hops; and notes of honeydew, tangerine and marionberry. Like a neighborly wave from across the street, this beer serves as a reminder that “it’s a beautiful day in the brewery,” where friends come together to create something special.


The beer is brewed and packaged in Pelican’s Tillamook production brewery and sold through Pelican’s distributor network. The two breweries are working together to launch and market the co-branded beer, and both will share in the revenue from this product.

Pelican Brewing goes overboard with new triple IPA
