Today I have a new brew coming to the Montauk Brewing Ocean Series from Montauk Brewing Company in Montauk, New York, and this one takes the coastal brand in a decidedly darker and sweeter direction. Montauk Salted Caramel Porter is the newest limited-release addition to the Ocean Series, bringing together the familiar character of a porter with the increasingly popular salted caramel flavor profile.

According to the package shown here, Montauk Salted Caramel Porter will be 5.8% ABV and packaged in 16-ounce cans. The label identifies the product as a limited-release malt beverage with natural flavor, making it clear that this is a specialty release rather than another year-round Montauk Brewing offering.

Montauk Salted Caramel Porter Brings a New Flavor to the Ocean Series

The new Montauk Salted Caramel Porter immediately stands out from the lighter, beach-inspired beers that have traditionally defined the Montauk Brewing portfolio. The Ocean Series has already demonstrated that Montauk is willing to explore beer styles beyond its familiar summer-oriented lineup, and this new salted caramel porter pushes that idea even further.

The package design also gives the beer a noticeably richer visual identity. Instead of the bright, ocean-blue and beach-oriented colors commonly associated with many coastal craft beers, the Montauk Salted Caramel Porter can artwork uses layers of caramel, orange, brown and deep red tones. The result is a warm, autumnal look that fits naturally with a porter and its salted caramel flavor concept.

At 5.8% alcohol by volume, the beer sits in a very approachable range for a flavored porter. The 16-ounce can format also gives Montauk Brewing another single-serve package option for the Ocean Series.

While the label does not provide a detailed tasting description, the name itself points directly toward the flavor experience Montauk is targeting. Salted caramel is a natural companion to darker malt-driven beer, where caramel sweetness can complement roasted, toasted, and chocolate-like malt characteristics. However, the exact balance between porter character, sweetness, and natural flavor will have to wait until the beer is officially released and tasted.

This is also another example of how the Montauk Brewing Ocean Series continues to evolve. MyBeerBuzz previously reported on the arrival of Guardsman Stout as part of the Ocean Series in 16-ounce cans. That beer was also listed at 5.8% ABV, demonstrating that Montauk is using the Ocean Series to showcase darker, more seasonal and specialty-oriented beers in addition to its better-known coastal offerings.

For Montauk Brewing fans, the new porter should be particularly interesting because it expands the brewery’s range while maintaining the brand’s recognizable packaging and coastal identity. The combination of Montauk Brewing, Ocean Series, Salted Caramel Porter, 5.8% ABV and 16-ounce cans should make this a beer to watch as distribution and release information becomes available.

Montauk Brewing has not yet provided the full release details for this new limited beer, so I will be watching for information on when Montauk Salted Caramel Porter will be released, where it will be available and how widely it will be distributed.

For now, the can confirms the important details: Montauk Salted Caramel Porter, Ocean Series, 5.8% ABV, 16 ounces, and limited release. Stay tuned for more details as this new Montauk Brewing specialty beer makes its way toward retailers.

Montauk Brewing Company: Long Island Craft Beer With a Coastal Identity

Montauk Brewing Company was founded in 2012 by longtime friends in Montauk, New York, with a mission centered on capturing the spirit, lifestyle and laid-back energy of their hometown. The brewery’s “Come As You Are” philosophy has become one of the defining elements of the Montauk Brewing brand, connecting its beers with the beaches, surf culture, outdoor lifestyle and relaxed atmosphere of eastern Long Island.

Based in Montauk, New York, Montauk Brewing has developed a portfolio that includes approachable craft beer styles designed for a broad audience. Among the brewery’s best-known beers is Wave Chaser IPA, an approachable IPA that has become one of the brand’s signature offerings. Other Montauk Brewing beers have included Surf Beer Golden Ale, Pilsner, Juicy IPA, seasonal releases and specialty beers created for the brewery’s various series.

The brewery’s location is an important part of its identity. The Montauk Brewing Brew Barn, located at 62 South Erie Avenue in Montauk, provides a physical connection between the brand and the community that inspired it. The brewery describes itself as embodying the spirit of its hometown and celebrating the “No Frills Good Life” through approachable, high-quality craft brews.

Montauk Brewing has also grown substantially beyond its original Long Island market. Tilray Brands acquired Montauk Brewing, and the brand subsequently expanded distribution throughout the Northeast and into additional markets. In 2023, Montauk Brewing announced expansion into Florida after already establishing distribution across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

That growth has allowed Montauk craft beer to reach consumers far beyond the East End of Long Island while maintaining the coastal identity that distinguishes the brand. Montauk Brewing has appeared in major venues and retail locations, and its beers have become increasingly recognizable outside its home market.

The brewery has also continued using limited releases and specialty beers to expand its portfolio. The Ocean Series is one example, with beers such as Guardsman Stout moving Montauk into darker beer territory. The arrival of Montauk Salted Caramel Porter continues that evolution, adding a flavored porter to the Ocean Series while maintaining the 16-ounce can format used for specialty releases.

Montauk Brewing has also emphasized its relationship with the ocean and local community through partnerships and events. In 2025, the brewery celebrated its anniversary with a collaboration involving Faherty and a beach cleanup with the Eastern Long Island chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. In 2026, Montauk Brewing celebrated its 14th anniversary with another beach cleanup and a limited Jalapeño Watermelon Ale release at the Brew Barn.

Today, Montauk Brewing Company combines Long Island craft beer roots, coastal branding, approachable beer styles and an expanding specialty-release program. From Wave Chaser IPA and Surf Beer to Ocean Series stouts and the new Salted Caramel Porter, Montauk continues to broaden its beer portfolio while keeping its connection to Montauk, New York firmly at the center of the brand.
