About Hop Valley Brewing:
Founded in 2009 in the quirkiest enclave of Oregon’s most free-spirited city, Eugene, Hop Valley Brewing proudly embraces the influences of our counter-culture surroundings. Our innovative, colourfully named and approachable beers proudly show our true character and invite all others to do the same.
Our main point of difference comes the magic of our secret stash: This comes from a dedicated, hard-working friendship with Yakima Chief Hops. Since 2011 we have helped to develop the Cryo Hop™ process. Thus, creating and nurturing our Stash Series of beers, the first of which, is Bubble Stash. Now available across Canada.
Now available across Canada
Hop Valley Brewing, originally founded in Springfield, Oregon in 2009, is known for its “refreshingly different” approach to craft beer, particularly its use of Cryo Hops. The brewery, acquired by Tilray Brands in 2024, will be ceasing production at its Eugene, Oregon facility in July 2025, with production shifted to other Tilray-owned breweries. Despite the production shutdown, the local taproom and pilot brew system in Eugene are expected to remain open.
Founding and Growth:
Hop Valley was established in 2009 by Walter Macbeth, Chuck Hare, Jonas Kunygys, and Trevor Howard. It gained popularity for its use of Cryo Hops, a concentrated hop powder developed in partnership with Yakima Chief Hops.
Acquisition and Production Shift:
In 2024, Hop Valley was acquired by Tilray Brands, a global cannabis and craft beer company. Tilray is consolidating production, moving Hop Valley’s brewing operations from Eugene to other facilities, including 10 Barrel in Bend and Widmer Brothers in Portland.
Core Products and Markets:
Hop Valley is known for its approachable, hop-forward beers like the Bubble Stash IPA, which is available across multiple states and even in Canada. The brewery has core markets in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, and Northern California, among others.
“Hops That Help” Program:
Hop Valley also participates in a program called “Hops That Help,” where a portion of beer sales are donated to charitable causes.
Taproom and Pilot System:
While production is shifting, Hop Valley’s taproom and pilot brew system in Eugene are expected to remain open, allowing visitors to still experience the brewery’s atmosphere and try its beers.
About Frogtown Brewery:
Frogtown Brewery is an independent craft brewery and taproom located in northeast Los Angeles along the L.A. River. It was recently named one of the 50 Fastest Growing Breweries in the United States by the Brewers Association.
Owners Adam Kestel and Mike Voss are long-time friends that had a shared passion for home brewing and DIY projects, along with the crazy dream to one day open their own brewery.
With the help of official home brew taster, hammer holder, and LA Native Gustavo Rojas they convinced a small group of close family and friends to invest in this dream to catapult it into reality.
The brewery and taproom opened doors in 2016 with a focus on creating quality handcrafted beers that were served in a comfortable space built for community connection and interaction.
Since opening Frogtown Brewery has made a name for itself in the L.A. craft beer scene with its standout classic Kinky Blonde Ale and experimental releases such as Painkiller, a tiki-inspired IPA made with toasted coconut and pineapple. The taproom boasts an ever-changing selection of beers and a welcoming family and dog-friendly environment.
