Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery To Take Over Former Lucky Lab Location in North Portland

Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery is set to open a new Taproom location in North Portland, with the Grand Opening set to take place Summer 2023. Located at 1700 N. Killingsworth Street, the Taproom will be located in the Overlook neighborhood, which houses 3,500 homes, more than 6,000 residents, a thriving industrial area with several main street commercial areas with shops, bars and restaurants. The Brewery & Cidery looks forward to becoming a staple in the community. Double Mountain will provide the same family-friendly cozy and quirky ambiance of their other two locations, the Brewery in Hood River and the second Taproom in the Woodstock neighborhood of Portland, which opened in 2016.   zzubreebym

The 4,600 sq. ft. Taproom consist of three separate rooms, with a bar in the main room which will house nearly 20 taps that will flow with Double Mountain’s unfiltered and long-aged beers, regional ciders, and house-made sodas. The new Taproom will offer the same delicious New Haven style pizza fans have come to love, along with sandwiches, salads, and more! The space has a good sized kitchen, and the Brewery & Cidery is excited to explore the potential of that space, with more house made offerings. You can also expect to enjoy free live music, and we plan to have an event space in the back room that will be available for large parties.

Some light interior updates will take place within the next few months, while the Brewery & Cidery works on transforming the space into the familiar Double Mountain living room-esque ambiance that helps all to feel welcome and at home. Introducing Our Newest 12oz Refillable Bottles 6-Pack: Kölsch!

The brewers joke that Kölsch makes itself. It does not, of course, and after loading up hops for the kettle and hop back for all our other brews, a Kölsch brew day can feel like a reprieve. Just like drinking it. Plus, it can give the brewer more time to multitask, as we do around here.

It is an easy drinker that is highly quaffable, but don’t let the simplicity fool you. This ale still has plenty under the hood as far as aroma and flavor goes. The yeast strain and noble hops provide some wonderfully delicate and delicious esters, and ferments well in this brew – usually down to 1.8 deg. Plato. It pairs well with stinky cheeses, pizza, pistachios, and a sunny day.

This ale was originally brewed in Cologne, Germany. It’s said to be a true Kölsch, you need to be in sight of the Cologne Cathedral. Luckily, we have a plate with the image of it in the brewery. Prost!
