Climate Pledge Arena and The Seattle Kraken Announce Partnership with Modelo®

Modelo will be the official and exclusive import beer of the arena and team, featuring the Modelo Cantina branded bars in the arena 

SEATTLE, Wash. – June 1, 2021 — Today, the Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena announce Modelo as the official import beer partner of the team and Climate Pledge Arena. With an emphasis on highlighting the Hispanic communities and culture in greater Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, the partnership will be Constellation Brands’ largest in the National Hockey League (NHL) and expand brand presence in the area.  

The partnership will expand upon the Seattle Kraken and the Modelo brand’s past experiential community activations and feature two Modelo branded bars in arena with a dynamic LED display, in-game promotions and brand presence at the bar and restaurant in the Kraken Training Center in Northgate. In celebration of the partnership, Modelo will be releasing a special edition mobile game for Kraken fans. The game will be an arcade-inspired Kraken hockey coin grab game that fans can play to be entered to win a Modelo x Seattle Kraken prize pack. The game will launch tomorrow and run from 6/1 – 8/1*.

Quickly embedding in the community, Modelo helped the team kick off a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month last year with the three-part Kraken Fighting Spirit series. The series educated fans about the rich Latinx history in Seattle by elevating the voices of local Latina women who are making a difference in the community. These women included: 

· Angelina Villalobos, a Mexican American muralist who uses her art to connect with youth of color in her community

· Ana Castro and Aminta Elgin, sisters who started the Salvadorean Bakery and Restaurant that serves as a beacon of community and light in the White Center neighborhood

· Roxana Pardo Garcia, a resilient activist who founded La Roxay Productions to help bring joy and healing to communities of color.

The Seattle Kraken’s July 21 Expansion Draft is in 55 days, followed by the NHL Draft on July 23-24. The puck will drop for the team’s inaugural season at Climate Pledge Arena, which opens in October.
