COMSTOCK, MI ., Feb 27, 2023–Bell’s Brewery, Michigan’s largest craft brewery, today announced the next evolution in its year-round portfolio: Lager for the Lakes–an all-new, easy-drinking American lager that celebrates the Great Lakes and encourages fans to join Bell’s in taking action to protect our fresh water treasures.In honor of the launch of Lager for the Lakes,Bell’s will support Alliance for the Great Lakes-a nonpartisan nonprofit organization working across the region to protect the fresh, clean and natural waters of the Great lakes.Fans are encouraged to join Bell’s in this effort by participating in Alliance for the Great Lakes ‘Adopt-A-Beach program.
Lager for the Lakes features a crisp mouthfeel and a clean finish. At 4.8% ABV (alcohol by volume), it’s a great everyday beer and perfect for a day out on the water.
Notably, the new beer has little in common with its predecessor (Lager of the Lakes, a Bohemian Pilsner)–except for a single-letter twist on the name that changes its meaning. Replacing “of” with “for”is intentionally designed to inspire more people to get involved in protecting the lakes we love to enjoy.
This year,Bell’s will contribute $25,000to the Alliance for the Great Lakes.In addition, drinkers can scan a QR code on every can of Lager for the Lakes to join Bell’s’ long standing commitment to protect clean water resources by participating in the Alliance’s Adopt-A-Beach program, which enables organizations and individual volunteers to work together in preventing plastic waste from polluting the Great Lakes.
Together, Bell’s and Alliance for the Great Lakes will host two beach clean-up events this summer, both of which fans are encouraged to join. Details and registration instructions for these events will be released at a later date, on both the Alliance for the Great Lakes and Bell’s Brewery websites.

This initiative builds on Bell’s longstanding commitment to water stewardship (among other key issues).Through its Inspired Giving philanthropy program in 2022, Bell’s donated $100,000 in Inspired Giving grants to 24 grassroots nonprofits working on clean water issues across the nation–and expects a similar total for 2023 above and beyond today’s special funding announcement.
