Tripping Animals Year Eight Floating Brings Mango, Guava, Calamansi and Passion Fruit to a 6% Sour Ale

Tripping Animals Brewing is getting ready to float another colorful collaboration into its can lineup, and this one brings together four tropical fruits, a pair of brewing partners and some seriously playful artwork. Year Eight Floating is a new sour ale from the Doral, Florida, brewery, brewed in collaboration with RAR Brewing and Beer Zombies, and it will land at 6% ABV in 16-ounce cans.

The can art is hard to miss. Cartoon cats are floating around a keg against a bright pink background, while the beer’s name takes center stage in oversized lettering. It looks like the kind of can that will catch your eye in a crowded cooler, and the fruit combination gives this release plenty to talk about before we even get to the first pour.

Year Eight Floating Is Loaded With Tropical Fruit

The new Tripping Animals Year Eight Floating sour ale will be conditioned with mango, guava, calamansi and passion fruit, according to the supplied release information and can label. That’s a four-fruit combination that gives the beer a distinctly tropical direction, bringing together familiar favorites and a citrus fruit that deserves more attention.

Mango is often associated with juicy sweetness and a soft, rounded fruit character, while guava can bring a fragrant, sometimes almost floral tropical note. Passion fruit is known for its sharp, tangy character, and calamansi, a small citrus fruit popular in Southeast Asian cooking and drinks, can contribute a bright, tart citrus edge.

Together, those ingredients suggest a fruit-forward sour ale with plenty of potential contrast between sweetness, acidity and citrus character. The finished balance will depend on the recipe and fermentation, though, and Tripping Animals has not supplied formal tasting notes for this release.

Four fruits. One sour ale.

That’s a pretty inviting combination for fans of fruited craft beer, especially those who gravitate toward juicy, tart releases rather than traditional malt-forward styles.

A Collaboration with RAR Brewing and Beer Zombies

Year Eight Floating brings Tripping Animals together with RAR Brewing and Beer Zombies. The collaboration gives the beer a wider cast than a standard brewery release, with the participating brands represented on the can alongside the tropical fruit concept.

Tripping Animals has a history of producing collaborative beers that combine fruit additions, creative names and distinctive artwork. The brewery has worked with other producers on a range of sour ales and hop-forward beers, making this new release a natural fit for its broader lineup.

RAR Brewing, based in Cambridge, Maryland, has developed its own following for an assortment of craft beer styles, while Beer Zombies has built a recognizable identity in the craft beer community through its beer-related branding, artwork and collaborations.

The exact division of brewing duties for Year Eight Floating has not been provided, so the confirmed detail is the collaboration itself rather than a specific recipe contribution from each partner.

Six Percent ABV and 16-Ounce Cans

The beer will come in at 6% alcohol by volume, placing Year Eight Floating in a familiar range for modern fruited sour ales. That strength gives it a little more weight than many lighter session beers without putting it into the high-alcohol territory of imperial sours and heavily conditioned specialty releases.

Packaging will be in 16-ounce cans, a format commonly used for limited craft beer releases and collaborations. The can’s bright pink design, floating cats and oversized beer name should also make this one recognizable when it reaches shelves.

The name Year Eight Floating appears prominently on the artwork, although the supplied announcement does not explain the significance of the name or connect it to a specific anniversary. For now, the fruit bill and collaboration details are the clearest points of interest.

When Will Year Eight Floating Be Released?

A confirmed release date, price and distribution schedule have not been provided in the information available for this announcement. Fans will need to watch for further updates from Tripping Animals Brewing and its collaborators to find out when and where the 16-ounce cans will be available.

For tropical sour ale fans, Year Eight Floating has an appealing starting point: mango, guava, calamansi and passion fruit, a 6% ABV base, and a collaboration involving three recognizable names in the craft beer world.

The next step is getting the beer into a glass. Until tasting notes are available, the precise balance of fruit sweetness, citrus and acidity remains an open question, but the ingredient combination gives this release plenty of potential.

Stay tuned to MyBeerBuzz.com for more details on Tripping Animals Year Eight Floating, including release timing, availability and additional information about this colorful collaboration sour ale.

About Tripping Animals Brewing Company

Tripping Animals Brewing Company is an independent craft brewery based in Doral, Florida, in the greater Miami area. Founded in 2018, the brewery has developed a distinctive identity through creative beer recipes, expressive can artwork and a lineup that ranges from hop-forward IPAs to fruit-conditioned sour ales, specialty stouts and other experimental craft beers.

The story behind Tripping Animals began years earlier, when its founding team was brewing beer in a garage in Caracas, Venezuela. After traveling, exploring brewing techniques and experimenting with different styles, the founders moved to the United States to pursue their ambitions in the craft beer industry. Daniel Chocron, Ignacio Montenegro, Iker Elorriaga and Juan-Manuel Torres established Tripping Animals Brewing Company in Doral, building a brewery around their shared interest in imaginative beer and community.

The company’s approach puts creativity at the center of its beer releases. Rather than concentrating on a single style, Tripping Animals produces a wide range of beers, including American IPAs, hazy double IPAs, pale ales, lagers, fruited sour ales and strong specialty beers. Its sour beer program is particularly well suited to experimentation with fruit, where different combinations can influence acidity, aroma, sweetness and the character of the finished beer.

The upcoming Year Eight Floating collaboration is a good example of that approach. The 6% ABV sour ale combines mango, guava, calamansi and passion fruit, bringing four distinctive tropical fruit ingredients together in one release. The beer is being produced in collaboration with RAR Brewing and Beer Zombies and will be packaged in 16-ounce cans.

Mango and guava are familiar ingredients in tropical fruit beers, but the inclusion of calamansi gives the recipe another dimension. Calamansi is a citrus fruit used widely in Southeast Asian food and beverages, known for its tangy juice and fragrant aroma. Passion fruit adds another bright, tart element, making the combination particularly suited to a sour ale. The final flavor balance will depend on the brewing process and fruit additions, and detailed tasting notes for Year Eight Floating have not yet been announced.

Packaging is another important part of the Tripping Animals identity. The brewery’s cans often feature cartoon animals, surreal imagery, vivid colors and playful typography. This approach makes individual releases easy to recognize and gives each beer its own visual personality. Year Eight Floating continues that tradition with a bright pink label showing cartoon cats floating around a keg, with the beer name displayed in large lettering.

Collaboration also plays a regular role in the brewery’s release strategy. Working with other breweries and beer-related brands creates opportunities to combine ideas, experiment with recipes and introduce different audiences to each participant’s work. Year Eight Floating brings together Tripping Animals, Maryland’s RAR Brewing and Beer Zombies for a tropical sour ale that reflects the collaborative spirit of the independent craft beer community.

Tripping Animals has also emphasized creating welcoming spaces where people can gather around craft beer, food, art and music. Its Doral location serves as a hub for local customers and visitors interested in exploring its rotating selection. The brewery’s broader identity draws on its founders’ backgrounds, their enthusiasm for experimentation and a commitment to producing beers that are distinctive in both flavor and presentation.

For customers interested in the brewery’s current offerings, upcoming releases, taproom information and official announcements, the best starting point is the official Tripping Animals Brewing website. Availability can vary by beer and location, especially for collaboration releases and limited can runs.

With its combination of creative recipes, fruit-forward sour ales, collaborations and memorable packaging, Tripping Animals Brewing Company has established a recognizable presence in the Florida craft beer scene. Year Eight Floating continues that approach, pairing four tropical fruits with a 6% ABV sour ale and a colorful can design that stands out from the crowd.
