Bell’s Cold Hearted IPA Moving to 19.2-oz Tallboy Cans
Bell’s Cold Hearted IPA Gets a New 19.2-oz Can Format
This morning, I have a new packaging update coming from Bell’s Brewery in Comstock, Michigan, and this one involves one of the brewery’s modern Hearted IPA releases. This is Bell’s Cold Hearted IPA, and while the beer will continue to clock in at 7% ABV, the packaging is getting a major format change with the arrival of 19.2-ounce tallboy cans.
The label clearly identifies Cold Hearted IPA as a Cold IPA, with the package showing the familiar Bell’s trout logo and the distinctive blue-and-gold Hearted family branding. The can also lists the beer as an India Pale Ale and shows an alcohol content of 7.0% by volume.
The new package contains 1 pint 3.2 fluid ounces (19.2 fluid ounces), or 568 mL, making this a substantial single-serve format for fans of the beer.
What Is Bell’s Cold Hearted IPA?
Cold Hearted was created as part of Bell’s ongoing experimentation with the Cold IPA style. Bell’s describes the beer as a drinkable Cold IPA that is crisp and refreshing, with pine and citrus character and a clean, dry finish. The brewery says Cold Hearted is dry-hopped with Centennial hops during cold fermentation, helping give the beer its distinctive hop-forward profile.
The beer has an interesting history within the Bell’s Hearted lineup. Cold Hearted initially appeared as part of the brewery’s Hearted variety-pack experimentation before becoming a more prominent standalone beer. MyBeerBuzz previously reported on Bell’s working on the Cold Hearted Cold IPA alongside Change Of Heart, with both beers listed at 7% ABV.
Now, Bell’s appears ready to give Cold Hearted a larger single-can format. The 19.2-ounce tallboy is already a familiar package size within the Bell’s portfolio, and the move gives Cold Hearted IPA another way to reach beer drinkers looking for a bigger serving of this crisp, modern IPA style.

About Bell’s Brewery:
Bell’s Brewery is one of the most recognizable names in American craft beer, with roots stretching back to 1985 when Larry Bell began brewing beer in Kalamazoo, Michigan. What started with a small 15-gallon soup kettle eventually developed into one of the country’s best-known independent craft breweries, with iconic beers including Two Hearted IPA, Oberon Ale, Hopslam Ale, Light Hearted Ale and the broader Hearted IPA family. Bell’s continues to operate major brewing operations in Comstock, Michigan, while maintaining its historic connection to Kalamazoo.
Bell’s is particularly famous for its Two Hearted IPA, but the brewery has increasingly expanded the Hearted brand into a diverse family of IPA styles. That experimentation includes Hazy Hearted IPA, Big Hearted, Light Hearted, Change of Heart and Cold Hearted, giving beer drinkers multiple interpretations of the Hearted brewing philosophy. Bell’s describes Cold Hearted as a 7% ABV Cold IPA featuring Centennial hops, cold fermentation, crisp refreshment and a clean, dry finish.
The brewery’s approach to innovation is an important part of Bell’s identity. Rather than relying exclusively on established flagship brands, Bell’s regularly experiments with new hop combinations, brewing techniques, beer styles and package formats. The Hearted family has become one of the clearest examples of that approach, allowing Bell’s to explore modern IPA trends while maintaining a recognizable connection to the classic Two Hearted brand.
Bell’s has also expanded its packaging strategy over the years, including 19.2-ounce cans for several beers. The larger format has become particularly useful for single-serve releases and special packaging, giving consumers another option between traditional six-packs and draft beer. Bell’s has previously offered 19.2-ounce packaging for Hearted-family beers, including Hazy Hearted and Big Hearted.
The brewery currently describes Cold Hearted as a crisp, refreshing Cold IPA with pine and citrus aromas, dry-hopped with Centennial during cold fermentation. That combination gives Cold Hearted a distinctive position within the Bell’s lineup and separates it from the brewery’s traditional American IPA and hazy IPA offerings.
With Cold Hearted IPA now appearing in 19.2-ounce tallboy packaging, Bell’s is continuing to evolve the presentation of one of its more modern Hearted beers. For Michigan beer drinkers and Bell’s fans, the new tallboy format should make Cold Hearted an especially interesting package to watch for as additional 2026 release and distribution information becomes available.
