Old Carter is the passion project of Mark Carter, whose beverage industry roots trace back to an award-winning career in the California wine business, including 25 “perfect score” 100-point wines. In 2011, Mark resurrected the long-dormant bourbon brand, Kentucky Owl, with the Dedman family. Kentucky Owl sold unexpectedly in 2017, but by then Mark was so enamored with the vibrant spirit of Kentucky’s whiskey community that he made a commitment to carry on by making a statement of his own, right in the Bluegrass. And Old Carter Whiskey Co was born.
Headquartered in Louisville, the Old Carter team produces Straight Ryes, Bourbons and American Whiskies in locations throughout the U.S. Each bottle is personally crafted by Mark Carter, who creates every blend and selects every single barrel program release.

Focus on Sourced & Blended Whiskeys: Old Carter operates as a non-distiller producer (NDP), meaning they source high-quality whiskey barrels from various locations (including Tennessee and Indiana) and then meticulously blend and bottle them in Kentucky.

Barrel Strength & No Chill Filtration: All Old Carter releases are bottled at barrel strength and are not chill-filtered, preserving the full flavor and character of the whiskey.

Limited & Coveted Releases: Old Carter produces limited edition batches, often in very small quantities (sometimes just a few barrels blended), which contributes to their high demand and collectibility.
