Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Deep Ellum Brewing’s IPA Mix Variety Pack (Review)

I’ve admitted in more than a few posts on mybeerbuzz that I love all things IPA. Whether they are east-coast, west-coast, NEIPA, hazy IPA, double IPA’s or even just a standard IPA, I love them all. I’m also excited to see that there are more and more IPA variety packs. I find these packs fun to drink and share and I think they are a great gateway to get people who may not love an IPA, to try one.

As you can imagine I was very excited to get my hands on a new IPA variety pack coming from Deep Ellum Brewing in TX. The pack is simply called IPA Mix Varity Pack and it includes Deep Ellum IPA, Easy Peasy IPA, Manic Confidence and Hop Seeker 2021. This 12-pack includes 3 of each beer and I think it is a great way to experience the variety of IPA styles out there.Of course I can’t wait to try them out, so off we go…Deep Ellum IPA

ABV:  7%
Style:  IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Clear amber gold
Aroma:   Resinous grapefruit
Mouthfeel:   Medium body higher carbonation
Taste:   Juicy, earthy, grapefruit and resinous pine
Overall:  I’ve never tasted this beer before so I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I love grapefruit hop flavors and this beer really delivers that grapefruit as well as a punch of resinous hops. Overall this is a really drinkable beer that definitely leans a bit west-coast IPA.

Deep Ellum Easy Peasy IPA

ABV:  5.2%
Style:  American IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Clear light copper/amber
Aroma:   Subtle sweet citrus, lemon & grapefruit
Mouthfeel:   Medium
Taste:   Sweet tangerine & lemon with a dry finish
Overall:  Easy Peasy IPA feels a lot like a sessionable IPA to me, but it is loaded with satisfying citrus and hop flavors. Overall this is an easy-drinking IPA, and while nothing will jump out at you or overwhelm you, the overall package makes for a really good beer.  

Deep Ellum Manic Confidence

ABV:  8%
Style:  Hazy IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Hazy golden yellow
Aroma:   Stone fruit, pineapple, mango and hops
Mouthfeel:   Medium with light carbonation
Taste:   Fruit, fruit and more fruit..mostly sweet pineapple.
Overall:  It would be a tremendous understatement to just say Manic Confidence is fruit-forward. Whether you’re talking about pineapple, citrus or tropical fruits, this beer leads and finishes with fruit. Overall the balance leans a bit sweet, but if you love a good fruit-forward hazy IPA, this is the beer for you.Deep Ellum Hop Seeker 2021

IBU:  40
Style:  West Coast-Style IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Vivid golden straw
Aroma:   Earthy resinous citrus
Mouthfeel:   Medium & satisfying
Taste:  Citrus, resinous pine & dank hops
Overall:  Hop Seeker has to be one of my favorite beers from the IPA pack. It has classic west coast-style IPA flavors and aromas, but with a modern touch. If you wanted to drink the word “dank”, then this would be a great reference beer and overall the juicy/dank balance really works.
