Troegs Master of Pumpkins:

Tröegs Independent Brewing is welcoming the fall season with the return of Master of Pumpkins, its popular seasonal pumpkin beer brewed with locally sourced Pennsylvania pumpkins. The Hershey, Pennsylvania-based independent, family-owned brewery continues its commitment to regional agriculture by sourcing approximately 3,000 pounds of Pennsylvania-grown longneck pumpkins for each annual batch. Master of Pumpkins has become a seasonal favorite for craft beer fans looking for traditional autumn flavors, and its return highlights Tröegs’ dedication to using real ingredients and maintaining a connection to its home state.

The brewing process behind Troegs Master of Pumpkins involves considerable preparation, beginning with freshly harvested pumpkins that are delivered directly to the brewery. The Tröegs brewing team cleans, slices, roasts and purées the pumpkins before incorporating them into the mash tun at the beginning of the brewing process. This approach allows the real pumpkin ingredients to play a central role in the beer’s production. Cinnamon, clove, ginger and nutmeg provide a complementary blend of seasonal spices, creating the familiar warming character associated with autumn pumpkin beers.

Troegs Master of Pumpkins is now available on draft and in 16-ounce cans wherever Tröegs beer is sold. The seasonal release offers craft beer enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy a pumpkin beer made with locally grown ingredients and a traditional brewing approach. With its Pennsylvania agricultural roots, hands-on pumpkin preparation and carefully balanced spices, Troegs Master of Pumpkins returns as part of Tröegs’ annual celebration of fall and its longstanding commitment to independent brewing.

Here is the latest announcement from Tröegs Independent Brewing about the return of Master of Pumpkins and its traditional Pennsylvania pumpkin brewing process.

HERSHEY, PA – Tröegs Independent Brewing ushers in the fall season with the return of its perennial fall favorite, Master of Pumpkins.

Each year, the independent, family-owned brewery begins by sourcing the 3,000 pounds of Pennsylvania-grown longneck pumpkins needed to brew the beer.

“To me, a pumpkin beer should use real pumpkins,” explains Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “Fortunately for us, Pennsylvania has the perfect climate for growing them. We love using ingredients we can find right in our own backyard, and we think our fans appreciate this beer’s connection to local agriculture.”

After the harvest, the pumpkins are delivered to the brewery and the Tröegs team cleans, slices, roasts, and purées the pumpkins before adding them directly to the mash tun at the start of the brewing process.

“It takes a lot of work to bring this beer to life, but it really is a labor of love,” says Trogner.

Subtly spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger, and nutmeg, Troegs Master of Pumpkins delivers the time-honored flavors of the season and provides warm comfort on the cool autumn nights ahead.

Master of Pumpkins is available on draft and in 16-oz. cans everywhere Tröegs beer is sold. Beer drinkers can find this and other beers near them using the Tröegs Brew Finder.

Tröegs Independent Brewing is an independent, family-owned craft brewery based in Hershey, Pennsylvania, founded in 1996 by brothers John and Chris Trogner. Built on a shared passion for great beer, creativity and independent brewing, Tröegs has grown from a small startup into one of Pennsylvania’s best-known craft breweries while maintaining its commitment to quality, innovation and hands-on brewing traditions. The brewery’s name combines the brothers’ surname with their independent approach to making beer, reflecting the family values and entrepreneurial spirit that continue to guide the company.

Tröegs has developed an extensive portfolio of year-round beers, seasonal releases and limited-edition specialty brews that showcase a wide range of brewing styles and ingredients. Among its best-known beers are Perpetual IPA, a year-round India Pale Ale, and seasonal favorites such as Mad Elf, a Belgian-style holiday ale, and Master of Pumpkins, its autumnal pumpkin beer. The brewery is also recognized for Nugget Nectar, a hop-forward Imperial Amber Ale that has become a highly anticipated seasonal release. By combining traditional brewing techniques with experimentation and distinctive recipes, Tröegs continues to introduce new flavors while maintaining a strong connection with its longtime customers.

A central part of the Tröegs philosophy is its dedication to sourcing quality ingredients and supporting regional agriculture whenever possible. Master of Pumpkins exemplifies this approach through its use of Pennsylvania-grown longneck pumpkins, which are cleaned, sliced, roasted and puréed by the brewery’s team before being incorporated into the brewing process. This attention to ingredient preparation reflects Tröegs’ broader interest in craftsmanship, transparency and the relationship between beer and the agricultural communities that supply its raw materials.

Tröegs operates its brewery and tasting room in Hershey, where visitors can experience its beers, learn about the brewing process and explore the company’s independent brewing culture. The facility features a tasting room, brewery tours, a restaurant and opportunities to discover the creativity behind the brand. Its Scratch Series program provides an outlet for brewing experimentation, allowing the team to develop innovative recipes, explore unusual ingredients and test new approaches to classic beer styles. Some of these experimental brews inspire future releases and provide insight into the brewery’s creative process.

The brewery has also built a strong reputation for its commitment to its employees, community and the wider Pennsylvania craft beer industry. Remaining family-owned and independently operated allows Tröegs to maintain a distinct identity while continuing to invest in its brewing facilities, people and products. Through its combination of established favorites, seasonal traditions and experimental beers, Tröegs Independent Brewing continues to celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship that define American independent craft brewing.
