Horny Goat – Don’t Let The Name Fool You: Belgian Style Wheat Beer & Berry Horny

We welcomed some warmer weather by rolling out these spring/summer style beers today. Horny Goat Belgian-Style Wheat Ale was up first and we poured it in a tall Wheat-style glass. Belgian-Style Wheat is a classic Belgian wit with flavors of banana, coriander and orange peel. Add in a slightly spicy kick at the end and Horny Goat has hit the style square on with this one. In the end, the flavors of classic Belgian bready yeast shine through and contribute to a nice finishing beer.
I’ll admit up front that as much as I like some of the fruit-based summer beer, I’m not a huge drinker or expert on the style. Berry Horny seems to me to be a nice balance of malty sweet with a little tart berry flavor at the end. I wasn’t sure this beer was using raspberries until I checked further…the flavor is subtle and hard to distinguish that it is raspberry. In any case, the beer is very refreshing and has a crisp finish that I know people will enjoy.
Get out and try these two
Horny Goat brews out for yourself and you’ll see what I mean when I say, “Don’t let the name fool you.”
