From Deschutes:

Beer news:

Not The Stoic (April); Hop in the Dark (April); Twilight Summer Ale (May); Foray Belgian-Style IPA (June); Black Butte XXVI (June)

Events:

  • April 14 – 19, Base Camp (San Diego)
  • May 4 – 10, Base Camp (Kansas City, MO)
  • May 9-10, SAVOR (Washington, D.C.)

Not The Stoic

When: Late April

What: Reserve Series (22-ounce wax-dipped bottles and draft)

With the expansion of our coveted Reserve Series this year, fans will be happy to hear about a new addition to the lineup: "Not the Stoic". Ingredients like Belgian candy sugar, beet and date sugars, and pomegranate molasses impart a clean, tangy sweetness.  This contemplatively brewed Belgian-styled quad was aged and sequestered in Rye Whiskey and Pinot Noir barrels, resulting in a complex flavor that is an entirely new rendition (with a nod to the original "The Stoic" that was released in 2011).

Where:  Available in most states where Deschutes is sold

Beer Geek Information:  12% ABV  |  15 IBUs

Hop in the Dark – Cascadian Dark Ale

When: Late April

What: Bond Street Series (22-ounce bottles and draft)

After taking a brief hiatus from its spot in our summer Bond Street Series, our Cascadian Dark Ale, Hop in the Dark, returns for a special appearance. Originally released in 2010 with great aplomb, this colored hop assault quickly became a darling of the Black IPA movement. The citrusy hop and roasted malt flavors are "masterfully balanced" and satisfy both the dark beer and hop head in all of us. We hope you’ll join us as we say "welcome back!"

Where: Available in most states where Deschutes is sold

Beer Geek Information:  6.5% ABV  |  70 IBUs

Twilight Summer Ale

When: May to September

What: Summer Seasonal (6-packs, 12-packs and draft)
When Twilight Summer Ale starts to show up on the shelves of your favorite store (or tap handles of your favorite bar), then you can be sure that summer is on the way. The vigorous, yet easy-drinking hop essence of this brew is as essential to the season as baseball, BBQs and the smell of freshly cut grass. Twilight Summer Ale’s crisp wafer-like body complements its clever medley of four hops and malts. Whole cone Amarillo, Northern Brewer, Cascade, and Tettnang hops sing next to subtle Cara-Pils and Carastan malts. Twilight Summer Ale is magic guaranteed to make the summer even more rewarding.

Where: Available everywhere Deschutes is sold

Beer Geek Information:  5.0% ABV  |  35 IBUs

Foray Belgian-Style IPA

When: June

What: Bond Street Series (22-ounce bottles and draft)

A brand-new addition to our lineup, this beer made its way into bottles the same way all our Bond Street Series beers do – by being a popular "experiment" at our pubs. When our "focus group" of pub patrons rave about one of our pub exclusive beers loud enough and for long enough, we make every attempt to make it more widely available to our fans. Foray is a journey during which Belgian yeast delivers hints of apples and pear, and a citrus Galaxy hop aroma make this a trip worth taking. Bon Voyage!

Where: Limited availability everywhere Deschutes is sold

Beer Geek Information:  TBD

Black Butte XXVI

When: June 27th

What:  Reserve Series (22-ounce wax-dipped bottles and draft)

Every year, we celebrate our anniversary with a huge double version of our flagship Black Butte Porter. Our brewers love to experiment and they always add some fun new ingredients to this beer to celebrate. In the past, you may have found chilies, chocolate nibs, dates, figs and other such goodies. This year, our brewmasters tell us that they’ve added cranberries, pomegranate molasses and Theo’s cocoa nibs to this 50 percent bourbon barrel-aged wonder. Like all of our Reserve Series beers, we encourage you to drink one upon its release and put some away for later. Some things just get better with age!

Where:  Limited availability in all 25 states where Deschutes is sold

Beer Geek Information:  ~11% ABV

EVENTS:

Base Camp for Beer Fanatics

Now in our fourth year of "Base Camp for Beer Fanatics", an overall celebration of craft beer goodness, we kicked off 2014 with Los Angeles events (going on this week). Next up:

  • San Diego, CA April 14 – 19
  • Kansas City, MO May 4 – 10

Base Camp is a week-long series of event at cities all over where Deschutes Breweryoffers beer fanatics a spot to "pitch a tent" of sorts – and find their footing with the cornerstone of Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Deschutes takes over with a series of activities such as beer dinners, tastings, music, total tap takeovers and pint specials to help fans celebrate a love of craft beer. Check www.deschutesbrewery.com/basecamp for a complete lineup of Base Camp fun.
