ABOUT THE BEER
Our classic winter warmer. We’ve brewed this brewery favorite off and on, in draught only, ever since it was first introduced in 1992. Rob likes to say this beer is like “liquid bread” and there is a rule when drinking it: “helmet required.” Not for the faint of heart. 8.5% ABV
ABOUT THE ARTIST
A southern transplant, Will Bryant’s work weaves together humor with commerce, fun, and positivity. In his sculptural installations, photographic still lives, and commercial illustration projects, there is always a sense of exuberance at play with a colorful palette. His work has been plastered across T-shirts, record sleeves, windows, posters, magazines, furniture, snowboards, underwear, and also exhibited internationally. He is interested in Pee Wee’s Playhouse, Michael Jordan, anthropomorphism, 90s basketball, SEC football, pets, pop culture, cookie meetings, and even parts of art history. Will works full time in his studio in Portland, OR and teaches part time in the graphic design department at Portland State University.
ARTIST INSPIRATION
"My main source of inspiration came from Rob’s description of the beer and the year in which is was first introduced. I also experimented with other ideas centered around “double” or “double trouble” but decided to focus on the term “liquid bread” often associated with heavy, full bodied beers. I then applied my own personality to the visual direction with subtle nods to 90s culture."

ABOUT THE BEER
The beer geeks of Portland demanded that Kurt and Rob try to replicate some of the original batches of Alt, which were much more bitter than ever intended (of course Portland beer fans wanted more hops…typical!). Ur-Alt was that recreation, and still a legend around these parts. 4.7% ABV, 60 IBU
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Print&Grain is a small custom design and letterpress studio located in Portland, Oregon. They are most recognized for their work with custom created branding through letterpress business cards.
ARTIST INSPIRATION
"The design is meant to be reminiscent of an old German beer deckle – Mike’s family had collected hundreds of deckles during their time in Germany in the late 70’s, so we had fun looking through and pulling elements and styles from them. Also, because the Ur-Alt is a purposefully hop heavy beer, you’ll find the design is weighted heavier on the left side by more hops."
